A summary
Summer HAF Film Club – Short Sketches & Content Creation We are excited to deliver an engaging Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) filmmaking programme, funded by Milton Keynes City Council, designed to positively engage children and young people across Milton Keynes during the Summer holidays. Following the success of our previous HAF programmes across Northamptonshire, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, Film Club is proud to offer another inspiring, inclusive and creative experience. This summer, participants will create a collection of fun short films inspired by comedy sketches, game shows, interviews, challenges and popular online content. Working together in small teams, children will develop original ideas and bring them to life using professional filmmaking equipment and green screen technology. The programme provides a safe, supportive and imaginative environment where children can explore storytelling, build confidence and develop new skills through hands-on filmmaking activities. Throughout the sessions, participants will gain practical experience both in front of and behind the camera, taking on a variety of filmmaking roles including acting, directing, camera operation, interviewing, presenting and production. Activities Include • Story development and scriptwriting • Acting, presenting and performance skills • Filming with Canon R50 cameras, microphones and green screen technology • Comedy sketches, game shows, interviews and challenge videos • Prop making, arts and crafts activities • Drama games and team-building activities • Basic editing and playback sessions (where time allows) • Board games, crafts and social activities during breaks • Healthy hot meals, snacks and wellbeing activities Sessions are designed to be highly collaborative, with children sharing ideas, planning scenes and working together to create entertaining content. This approach helps develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving and creative thinking skills while supporting social development and emotional wellbeing. To support confidence and physical activity, each session begins with fun drama-based games that encourage participation, creativity and movement. A calm and nurturing environment is also provided, with quiet crafts and games available for children who may need time away from the main activities. Each day, children will receive a healthy hot meal alongside fruit-based snacks, and families will be offered signposting and information about local support services. Children will gain hands-on experience of the filmmaking process from planning and production through to viewing their finished creations. By the end of the programme, participants will have created a variety of original short films and video content while developing valuable creative, technical and social skills in a fun and supportive environment. With years of experience delivering after-school clubs, in-school workshops, holiday programmes, HAF projects and Short Breaks across multiple local authorities, Film Club has a strong track record of engaging children through creative filmmaking experiences. All participants will receive a downloadable copy of the films they helped create. All content created during HAF Film Club is intended for private viewing only and must not be shared on social media platforms. ⚠️ Please cancel places if not able to attend. This enables another eligible child to take up the opportunity. ⚠️ Bookings that are not attended and for which we are not able to contact you, remaining bookings may be cancelled.

What we'll do
Summer HAF Film Club – Short Sketches & Content Creation Get ready for a fun-filled week of creativity, comedy and filmmaking at our Summer HAF Film Club! This summer, children will work together to create a series of entertaining short films inspired by comedy sketches, game shows, interviews, challenges and popular online content. Using professional cameras, microphones and green screen technology, participants will bring their ideas to life while developing new skills and making new friends. On Monday, children will take part in planning activities, develop ideas for their sketches, create simple scripts, design characters and make props ready for filming. The rest of the week will focus on filming a variety of fun short sketches and creative content, giving everyone the opportunity to perform, direct, operate cameras and contribute behind the scenes. Sessions are hands-on, engaging and supportive, helping children develop confidence, teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving skills. Drama games and team-building activities will be included throughout the week to encourage participation and build friendships. A calm and inclusive environment is provided, with arts and crafts, board games and quiet activities available for children who may need time away from the main sessions. Healthy hot meals and snacks are provided each day, and families will receive information about local support services available within the community. We strongly recommend attending Monday's planning session and at least one filming day to get the most from the experience and maximise opportunities to appear in the final productions. However, children are welcome to attend individual days and will still be able to take part in the activities and enjoy a creative and rewarding experience. Every participant will receive a downloadable copy of the films and sketches they helped create to enjoy at home. All content created during HAF Film Club is intended for private viewing only and must not be shared on social media platforms.
