A summary
We are excited to deliver an engaging Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) filmmaking programme, funded by Milton Keynes City Council, designed to positively engage children and young people across Milton Keynes during the Spring Break. Following the success of our previous HAF programmes in Northampton and Aylesbury, Film Club is proud to run another inspiring and inclusive creative experience. The programme provides a safe, supportive and imaginative space where children can explore storytelling, build confidence and develop new skills through hands-on filmmaking activities. Throughout the sessions, participants will gain practical experience both in front of and behind the camera, including filming, directing, acting, editing, prop-making, costume design, makeup and using green screen technology, all while working with professional equipment. Sessions are designed to be collaborative, with children working in small groups to share ideas, plan scenes and create their films. This approach helps develop communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while supporting social development and emotional wellbeing. To support wellbeing and physical activity, each session begins with fun, drama-based games that build confidence, spark creativity and get children moving. A calm, nurturing environment is also provided, with quiet crafts and games available for children who may need time out. Each day, children will receive a healthy hot meal along with fruit-based snacks, and families will be offered signposting and information about local support services. Sessions take place at Bletchley Youth Centre and are structured across four days. On Day 1, children choose a film theme, work on scriptwriting, develop their characters, and take part in drama-based games. Day 2 continues with drama games and includes prop-making to prepare for filming. Days 3 and 4 focus entirely on filming, bringing their stories and ideas to life. We strongly recommend that children attend at least one day of planning (scriptwriting, character development, or prop-making) and one day of filming to be included in the final film. However, if a child can only attend a single day, we will still make it work so they can enjoy the session and take away a creative and rewarding experience. With years of experience delivering after-school clubs, in-school workshops, holiday programmes, HAF projects and Short Breaks across multiple councils, we have a strong track record of engaging children in creative film projects. This programme is designed to develop not only filmmaking knowledge but also confidence, creativity, literacy and teamwork skills in a fun and supportive environment. All participants will receive a downloadable copy of the film or films they helped to create, and parents and carers are asked to ensure children are able to take part in the full activity wherever possible.

What we'll do
Spring HAF Film Club – Creative Filmmaking Fun Get ready for a creative four-day spring adventure at our Film Club! This programme gives children the chance to make their very own short film inspired by one of five imaginative themes: The Mystery, The Portal, The News Report, The Challenge, and The World Has Changed. Sessions take place over four days: on Day 1, children choose their film theme, work on scriptwriting, develop characters, and take part in drama-based games. Day 2 continues with drama games and includes prop-making to prepare for filming. Days 3 and 4 focus on filming, bringing their stories and ideas to life using professional equipment. The sessions are hands-on, fun, and supportive, helping children develop confidence, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-expression. Healthy hot meals and snacks are provided each day, and families will receive useful information about local support services. We strongly recommend attending at least one day of planning and one day of filming to appear in the final film, however, children can still take part and enjoy the creative experience if they are only able to attend one day. Every participant will receive a downloadable copy of the film they helped create to enjoy at home.
