Mini Wilderness Explorers is a relaxed, themed Forest School session for children aged 2–5 and their grown-ups. Each session offers plenty of time to explore, play and discover the outdoors together through a mix of nature-based activities, simple crafts, sensory play, stories and seasonal experiences. Activities change with each theme and with what we find in the woodland, giving children the freedom to follow their interests, build confidence and enjoy spending time in nature at their own pace. Sessions are child-led, welcoming and designed to be enjoyed together with a parent or responsible adult.

What to Bring & Where to Meet

Please meet us on the terrace at Bodenham Arboretum, outside the restaurant, ready for the session to begin.

Mini Wilderness Explorers takes place outdoors, so please dress both children and adults for the weather. We recommend:

  • waterproof coats and trousers when needed
  • sturdy, enclosed shoes or boots suitable for uneven woodland ground
  • warm layers in cooler weather
  • sun hats and sun cream on warmer days
  • a drink for your child

For safety, sliders, flip-flops, open-toed sandals and other unsuitable footwear are not permitted.

Anyone arriving in unsuitable footwear will unfortunately not be able to take part in the session.

Please choose clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy — exploring, digging and getting a little messy are all part of the fun!

Older and Younger Siblings

Older and younger siblings are very welcome.

Any child aged 18 months or over, or who is walking, must have their own ticket.
