A summary
This one day course in Outdoor Food Safety has been designed to provide those who cater for children, young people and adults in outdoor settings with the knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and skills in safe handling and cooking to enable them to safely cater for individuals and groups. This Level 2 qualification is suitable for Forest School Leaders and assistants, nursery practitioners, scouting leaders or anyone who handles, prepares or serves food for groups outdoors. You will learn how to keep food and your group safe and comply with the legal requirements in an outdoor setting where there may be no access to running water, refrigeration, or the facilities associated with a catering kitchen. The course blends engaging theoretical learning with practical, hands-on activities that reinforce key concepts. It concludes with a short written assessment. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Level 2 Certificate accredited by ITC First.

If you arrive late, please walk through the gate into the churchyard and take the small path on the left. This leads gently downhill, past gardens (on the left) and then onto a field edge (which can be muddy) leading to the entrance to the Forest School site. If you have problems, please call Charlotte on 07879 653488. * The course will start at 8.30am with registration and refreshments. It will finish by 5.30pm. * Please ensure that you are appropriately clothed for the course which will take place entirely outdoors (regardless of the weather!) We recommend: - Long sleeved clothing top and bottom; - Lots of warm, thin layers (even if it is a mild day); - A waterproof outer layer, top and bottom; - Waterproof shoes or boots; - If you have long hair please bring something to tie it up; - An apron or clean t-shirt for food preparation. * Please bring a pen and proof of ID (such as a passport or driving license). You may wish to bring a notebook and will be provided with a course manual. You might wish to bring a camping chair. * Refreshments will be provided but you will need to bring a packed lunch. You will be allocated a group and asked to purchase ingredients and bring equipment with you (some equipment will also be available to borrow if needed). Please let me know when you book if you have any dietary requirements including allergies and intolerances. * Assessment will be through a short written assessment (mixture of multiple choice and short answer questions).
