What we'll do
ITC Level 2 Award Food Hygiene in the Outdoors We are excited to offer the course being facilitated by Maxine from Peritia Training. This ITC course will be delivered over 1 day and is ideal for all those who are working with groups in the outdoors who wish to become occupationally competent in teaching and facilitating food preparation in cooking in an outdoor environment. The qualification is intended to provide the learner with an understanding of the benefits of Outdoor Food Hygiene, The qualification specifically, roles and responsibilities, how to prepare, cook, and manage others preparing and cooking food within the outdoor environment using approved principles and practices. It is suitable for all who wish to become occupationally competent; need permissions or have an interest in teaching, and facilitating food preparation and cooking within the outdoor environment. Topics include: – The principles of food safety and of food hygiene – Understand food contamination and controls in the outdoors – Know how to store ingredients and cook food safely outdoors – Special diets, dietary allergens, consideration when preparing and cooking food The learning and assessment is a mix of theory and practical. Assessment is by completion of a paper portfolio and also by observation of practical skills. Applicable to a wide range of outdoor cooking environments form camp kitchens to individual/group expedition/bushcraft/ activity camps/ corporate events. There are 7 hours guided learning, 8 hours total qualification time. Successful completion of the award will be awarded an ITC Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene for the Outdoors

We provide these services to enable people who present with additional support needs to increase their physical activity levels as a route to helping improve health and wellbeing along with personal development programmes that can help improve self and social confidence. The activities we provide includes canoeing, kayaking, archery, paddle boarding, hiking and bushcraft for individuals and groups, in particular for those who are deemed at increased risk or hard to help, so as to improve their chances of achieving a fulfilling life.

We provide high quality, active and fun first aid courses throughout East Anglia and beyond. We specialise in Forest School, Paediatric and Outdoor First Aid.
Timings of the Day
The course runs from 9am to 5pm and during this time the participants will learn the 4C’s of food hygiene in the outdoor environment: cleaning, cooking, chilling and cross-contamination prevention. Please arrive by 8.30am as there is a short walk from car park to woods. Finishing in woods at 5pm.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and Refunds Cancellation by the client 1. All cancellations must be in writing with evidence of receipt/ confirmation. 2. All deposits are non-refundable. 3. Cancellations less than 12 weeks before course 50% of full payment will be refunded or 50% will be charged. 4. Cancellations less than 8 weeks before course 25% of full payment will be refunded or 75% will be charged. 5. Cancellations less than 4 week before the start day no refunds will be made, or full amount will still be charged. 6. In exceptional circumstances we MIGHT be able to transfer your place to another course- this depends on availability of another course and the reasons for postponing. We may be able to offer a refund minus an administration fee of 10% of the total course fee but this is in extreme circumstances where we try to offer a compassionate response. Cancellation by Rooted in Nature 1. Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that courses run, we will notify the client first by mobile text and then in email writing as soon as practical where we believe on reasonable grounds that cancellation is necessary due to factors beyond our control i.e. dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions for the course. 2. All monies paid to Rooted in Nature CIC in respect of the booking would be refunded in full or offered an alternative event/ date unless the booking was terminated due to the client failing to meet the booking conditions. Liability and Insurance: All participants must be aware of the potential hazards involved with activities and accept the risks associated. Rooted in Nature CIC is under no liability whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to property. Participants are most strongly advised to arrange their own suitable insurance cover. Rooted in Nature CIC is unable to offer any form of insurance cover (other than public liability). Groups are responsible for the cost of any damage they may cause. Rooted in Nature CIC accept no liability for additional course fees that may be associated to participating in a course.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
