About your mentors
Neighbourhood Network
To connect, support and empower communities
We are small, friendly Hull & East Riding based charity, with a big reach - on a mission to work with and support people in making their communities safer and healthier. Our vision is that by being part of the Neighbourhood Network (NN) people will feel better equipped and informed to create safer and healthier environments in which to live and work, improving people's lives and health and well-being in the long-term. The NN accomplishes its goals through a diverse array of projects that are tailored to meet the specific needs of local communities in Hull and the Humber region. This flexible and responsive approach has allowed the charity to continuously evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the community, resulting in the dynamic and impactful organisation it is today. Today, the organisation operates through three primary pillars of work: 1. Community Safety: Empowering residents to care for their neighbourhoods, report local concerns and reduce their risk of crime through practical support and low-cost crime prevention equipment. 2. Menopaus’ull Support Network: Providing resources, information, and support to individuals experiencing menopause, fostering a sense of connection and understanding. 3. Alf Marshall Community Centre: Managing a community hub that delivers essential services and activities tailored to meet the unique needs of the local community, promoting empowerment and cohesion. By focusing on its three core areas of work, the charity is well-equipped to address community needs and collaborate with individuals to find positive solutions, while upholding its core values of trusted, community focus, collaboration, inclusive, and supportive.
Andy Pittaway
Cook Stars Class Helper
Hi I am Andy, I am Sarah' s husband, class helper, washer upper, shopper and lots more. I love helping out in classes and seeing how much the children enjoy trying new things, building confidence, making friends and having fun at the same time as understanding how to eat healthy and cook from scratch. It is always wonderful to see how proud they are of what they have made. I was a Pastry chef in a Michelin Star Restaurant for 10 years, so I have carried on with my passion for cooking without all of the pressure of a Michelin Star Kitchen.

Making Cooking Child's Play
Cook Stars offer cooking classes, workshops and parties for pre-school children, primary school age children, tweens and teens. We also deliver classes within schools and the community. We are passionate about cooking and we simply LOVE good food! We strongly believe that a healthy lifestyle starts with a healthy relationship with food. We share our love of cooking through teaching children and teenagers how to create their very own dishes from scratch.

Making cooking Childs play
Teaching children to cook is a passion of mine. I love seeing their face light up when they have made something from scratch. I was a secondary school teacher for many years so it is a joy for me to be able to continue with the fun stuff, still do something that I love and still have a great work life balance. Our classes include fun activities for all ages.
