What we'll do
Our Knockhatch Adventure Camp HAF Funded Days offer children aged 8–13 years an exciting, enriching and memorable experience packed with fun, learning and adventure, all within a safe and supportive environment. The camp runs from 9:30am until 3:30pm providing a full day of structured activities and care. Set within the vibrant surroundings of Knockhatch Adventure Park, children will enjoy a variety of engaging activities designed to encourage confidence, curiosity and a love for the outdoors. A highlight of the day is the **hands-on animal experiences**, where children have the opportunity to meet, observe and learn about a range of animals up close. Led by knowledgeable and experienced staff, these sessions introduce children to animal care, habitats and behaviour, helping to foster empathy, responsibility and respect for wildlife. In addition to animal encounters, children will take part in a range of **adventure-based activities** that promote physical activity, teamwork and problem-solving. From exploring outdoor play areas to participating in group challenges, games and creative activities, the programme is carefully planned to keep children active, engaged and motivated throughout the day. Activities are inclusive and adaptable, ensuring every child feels confident and supported to take part at their own pace. A healthy and nutritious lunch is provided as part of the day, giving children the energy they need to enjoy all activities from start to finish. Dietary requirements and allergies are accommodated wherever possible, ensuring all children can eat safely and comfortably. Regular breaks are built into the day for rest, hydration and social time with peers. The camp is delivered by friendly, trained staff who place a strong emphasis on safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour. Children are encouraged to build independence, resilience and social skills in a structured yet relaxed setting, while having fun and making new friends. We offer funded spaces through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, this day supports children and families by providing access to high-quality holiday provision that combines healthy food, physical activity and enriching experiences. It’s a fun-filled day of adventure, learning and discovery — creating lasting memories at Knockhatch Adventure Park.

Learning aims
Aim 1
Hands-On Interaction Skills Participants will learn safe and respectful ways to approach and handle animals during animal encounters or keeper sessions. Emphasis on listening to keepers and following safety routines (e.g., hand washing before and after contact).
Aim 2
Animal Awareness & Understanding Children will learn about a variety of animals’ behaviours, diets and adaptations. They will observe animals in a safe, supervised environment and understand how different species vary in habitat and needs. Staff or keepers will explain animal roles within ecosystems and what they eat.
Aim 3
Responsibility & Care Children will gain insight into animal care tasks such as feeding or assisting keepers with selected activities. They’ll understand the importance of routine and responsibility in looking after animals, including hygiene and animal welfare basics.
