What we'll do
Our Mission Statement ______________________________________________________________ St Agnes Adventure Playground exists to be a joyful, safe and inclusive haven where children and young people from every background can play, grow, and thrive. Rooted in the rich multicultural heritage of Bristol, we are committed to creating a space where every child feels seen, valued and free to express who they are. Our mission is to champion the power of play as a force for development, confidence and wellbeing. Through adventurous activities, creative exploration and supportive relationships, we nurture curiosity, resilience and social connection. We believe that play is not just recreation; it is a vital foundation for learning, emotional growth and lifelong skills. We support children, young people and families by offering a safe environment staffed by trusted adults who prioritise safeguarding, respect and positive engagement. As a community centre, we celebrate diversity, encourage cultural understanding and work collaboratively with families, schools and local partners to ensure that every child has access to opportunities that enrich their lives. St Agnes Adventure Playground stands as a sanctuary; somewhere to laugh, to learn, to build friendships and to feel at home. Our mission is to protect this space, strengthen our community and empower the next generation to grow with confidence, creativity and joy.

About your mentor
St Agnes Adventure Playground
open access, free play
Here at St Agnes Playground, our amazing team are fully qualified and DBS checked, providing open-access free play sessions where every child can enjoy a wide range of activities and workshops. We actively encourage imaginative play and creative development, as we believe play is essential in helping children grow, build confidence, and express their needs and aspirations for the future. At the playground, we value child-led feedback and use it to help shape the planning, future direction, and foundation of the playground for all who attend.
Why this is useful
Here at St Agnes Playground, we provide hot, healthy, and nutritious meals for all children. We also offer drinks and healthy snacks to ensure everyone stays energised throughout the day. During this time, we all sit together to enjoy our meals while communicating and spending time with one another. We find that sharing this time helps children build connections, develop social skills, and create new friendships along the way. We are currently operating with a maximum on-site capacity of 50 spaces. For this reason, our sessions run as a drop off service at this time and parents will not be able to stay, as available spaces are prioritised for children attending the session. However, due to SEND needs, we do allow one parent or carer to remain with their child during the play session where additional support is required.
Learning aim
Aim 1
children will develop confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills by exploring, experimenting, and taking managed risks in a safe and stimulating outdoor environment. Children will develop self-expression, creativity, and collaborative skills by experimenting with a variety of artistic materials and techniques, making choices, and sharing their creations in a supportive, hands-on environment. This may include: Creativity and imagination: trying new materials, inventing stories through art, exploring different styles. fine motor skills: painting, cutting, sculpting, building models Emotional expression and confidence: expressing ideas and feelings through art, taking pride in creations. Collaboration and social skills: Working together on group projects, giving and receiving feedback. Problem-solving and experimentation: Mixing colors, designing structures, adapting ideas when something doesn't work.
When you arrive
When you arrive, a member of our team (a play worker) will ask parents or carers to complete a registration form if your child has not attended before. Once the form has been completed, you will not need to fill this in again unless your contact details change for any reason. Completing this registration form is a requirement in order to access our play session. It is extremely important that an adult attend with your booked child to be able to complete this registration. End of session collection/pick up Please note if your booked child is being collected please let one of our play staff know. Due to being an open access playground some children attend/leave on their own. if this is something you do not feel comfortable with please inform a member of the team of your wishes for collection.
