A summary
“THE GAME’S AFOOT, WATSON!” Join us for an exciting week of drama, creativity, and mystery as we bring the world of Sherlock Holmes to life. Through devising, acting, and imaginative storytelling, participants will unravel a memorable mystery of their own… but will family and friends be able to solve the case and work out whodunnit? Together is a free holiday drama club for young people aged 12–18 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Led by professional facilitators in a supportive and inclusive environment, sessions are designed to build confidence, encourage creativity, and celebrate individuality. Throughout the week, we’ll explore stories, rehearse scenes, play fun drama games, and use arts and crafts to create props, masks, costumes, and more — bringing our mystery adventure vividly to life. Whether performing, making, imagining, or problem-solving, every participant will have the chance to express themselves, develop new skills, and enjoy being part of a fun and welcoming creative community. “The instructions and activities arranged for the students were varied, differentiated, and fully engaged the children. They loved dressing up, performing scenes from the play, and making props too.” — SEND Teacher

About your mentors
Guildford Shakespeare Company
Love theatre and drama? Come take part!
Guildford Shakespeare began with a simple mission to create exceptional theatre in extraordinary places. By re-igniting people’s passion for theatre-going we've sought to break down the boundaries that preclude participation, encouraging inclusivity and accessibility for everyone. The GSC Outreach and Education department work with some 24,000 people, young and old, across the region, in a variety of settings. A large part of this work is aimed at improving engagement for socially excluded groups and the least advantaged in our community. Projects range from primary after-school clubs to programmes for families with teenagers living with mental health challenges and Young Carers
Mel Coomber
Drama, Dance & Art Facilitator
I am a freelance facilitator of drama, art and dance, I come with many years’ experience delivering in schools, colleges, youth centres, nurseries, charities and youth theatre. I gained a huge amount of expertise working with people with learning differences. I have worked for and still work with various organisations leading and coordinating workshops. I have co-founded and run 2 organisations for people with SEND. I have been leading the Together workshops since December 2022 and love them. I have planned lots of fun activities and look forward to seeing you.
Helen White
Drama and Theatre Practitoner
Creating original work is at the heart of what I do. With professional training from Frantic Assembly and Theatre Re, I integrate physical theatre into my creative process whenever possible, bringing stories to life through movement and visual storytelling. My time at Curve Theatre further equipped me with the tools to devise dynamic material, lead creative spaces with confidence, and adapt performances for a wide range of audiences. Whether the work is created by children or adults, I tailor each piece to tell a story and land with impact.
Maria
Main loves are Jesus, theatre and coffee!
I work mainly as a special needs teaching assistant however alongside this I am also a freelance actor/facilitator
SUITABLE FOR
This club is designed for young people who require a higher level of support to access holiday activities, with specialist SEND provision in place. We keep group sizes small—no more than 8 participants—to help reduce sensory overload and ensure individual attention. If you're unsure whether your child’s needs can be met in a setting with a 1:2 staff-to-child ratio, please contact us before attending. All our venues are wheelchair accessible and include accessible toilets. We also provide quiet breakout spaces for those who may need a low-stimulation environment.
Learning aim
Aim 1
Encourage participants to express themselves creatively through voice, movement, and character work in a supportive environment.
OUR STAFF
Every session is led by at least four member of staff from a theatre and SEND background.

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
