What we'll do
Forest school is a place full of adventure, where children can explore, discover and let their imaginations run wild in the great outdoors. They love gathering around to cook and eat together outside, whether it’s toasting snacks over a fire or tasting something they’ve helped prepare themselves. Feeding the animals becomes a special daily moment, building friendships with them and learning how to care for living things. Children get their hands dirty planting seeds, watching with excitement as they grow and change, and feeling proud of what they’ve helped create. They also enjoy learning to use real tools in a safe and supported way, building, creating and problem-solving as they go. Every experience is full of curiosity, achievement and fun, helping children feel confident, capable and connected to the natural world.

About your mentor
Growing Places
Creating the future by inspiring the moment
Together we develop sociable, articulate, responsible, caring children with a tolerance, understanding and respect for each other and their community. Our Growing Places approach is inspired by the values of the Reggio Emilia nurseries and pre-schools in Italy. This is an inspirational approach that builds a culture that respects childhood and allows each child to have daily opportunities to play, explore, discover, communicate and develop tolerant, understanding relationships.
More Information
Preparing for your session: Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing (named) to have a fun experience outdoors and with the animals. Avoid sending anything that you do not wish to get dirty or ruined. Appropriate footwear - trainers, crocs, welly boots. Sun hats/woolly hats, (weather dependent), Named Water bottles Example of the day: Our meeting (or as you may hear the children say 'find a log time') during this time we all gather around our log circle and talk about the day, we go over the boundaries and expectations of the site (which have been created with the children's input) children are able to introduce themselves and share any news with the group if they wish. We talk about what is on offer that day and ask the children if there is anything they would like to do.  The children have 'free explore' time they can either participate in something set out by the staff or do something they would like to do, this may be den building or playing in the mud kitchen. This is the time the animals are checked, the children can be part of this is they would like to help. Lunch - Prepared on site
