A summary
Get ready to drop some rhymes and bring books to life! As part of our Summer Reading Challenge theme, "Read to the Beat," join world champion freestyle rapper Rob Bradley (aka Jack Flash) and The Rap School for a high-energy, interactive rap workshop! This exciting session connects reading with creativity and performance in a totally accessible way. Participants will use rhythm and rhyme to explore language, working with any type of text—from novels and poetry to comics, non-fiction, and their own original ideas. This dynamic workshop is recommended for children aged 7–16, providing a safe and engaging environment where literacy and musical performance connect. No previous rapping or writing experience is needed; just bring plenty of enthusiasm to express yourself! For safety and due to limited space, it is requested that children are accompanied by only one adult to prevent crowding in the activity space. Siblings should not attend unless they have a pre-booked place and meet the age requirements.

We have 12 libraries across the city that provide a wide range of materials for loan, computers and internet access and a fantastic range of events and activities. We offer an excellent support service for schools and also have a home library service for those who are unable to get to a library. It’s free to join our libraries, as are most of its services and events. Everyone is welcome whether you live, work or study in Hull, or if you are a visitor.
