What we'll do
This summer we’re transforming the new Greenford Library Community Garden and we’d like you to be part of it! Participants will help build and develop the garden through practical outdoor projects, creating new growing spaces and planting fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers. We’ll grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in the garden, then harvest some of the produce to prepare and cook together on the BBQ. Alongside gardening, there will be opportunities to take part in bushcraft and nature-based activities, play outdoor games, explore local green spaces and help shape a garden that the whole community can enjoy. This is a hands-on programme for young people who enjoy being outdoors, learning practical skills and making a real difference to their local area. By the end of the summer, participants will be able to see the impact of their work and take pride in helping create a new community space for Greenford!

About your mentor
Letting Grow CIO
Nature has no walls
We curate workshops, courses and away days for inner-city schools and urban communities to improve people’s connection with nature. We’ve turned unused areas into thriving allotments, grown fruit and vegetables for school kitchens and run tree-planting initiatives across Ealing. Creating accessible green spaces is at the heart of what we do. This summer, we’re developing Greenford Library’s new community garden and inviting children and young people to be part of the journey. Through gardening, nature crafts, outdoor games, food growing and cooking, participants will help transform the space while building confidence, making friends and spending time outdoors. Our team has extensive experience working with SEND and vulnerable young people through schools and alternative provision settings across Ealing, and our sessions are designed to be welcoming, flexible and inclusive for all.

* Gardening and community garden projects * Growing fruit, vegetables and herbs * BBQ cooking sessions using some produce grown on site * Nature walks and outdoor activities in Ravenor Park * Bushcraft, team challenges and outdoor games * Opportunities to learn practical gardening and cooking skills * Potential visit to Kew Gardens (subject to confirmation) SEND & Accessibility: Our programme is designed to be inclusive and welcoming.
