A summary
Get ready for a fantastic day of fun, fitness, and friendly competition at our Pickleball Power Play Day! This exciting session is open to young people, offering a chance to discover why pickleball is rapidly becoming one of the most popular sports in the UK. So, what exactly is Pickleball? Imagine a brilliant blend of tennis, badminton, and table tennis! It's played on a court roughly the size of a badminton court, with a slightly lower net than tennis. Players use solid paddles (a bit like oversized table tennis bats) to hit a perforated plastic ball. The game is easy to learn, making it accessible for everyone, regardless of experience. It's less demanding on the joints than tennis due to the smaller court and slower ball speed, yet it provides a great workout and plenty of strategic rallies. During our HAF day, you'll learn the essential skills: how to serve underhand, master the "dink" (a soft shot played near the net), and understand the "non-volley zone" (often called "the kitchen"!) where you can't hit the ball directly out of the air. You'll get plenty of practice, take part in fun drills, and enjoy some exciting matches, whether in singles or doubles. This day isn't just about learning a new sport; it's about staying active, improving coordination, and having a blast with new friends. A delicious and nutritious lunch will be provided to keep your energy levels up!

Godalming Youth Service
Amazing opportunities for all Godalming youth
Godalming Youth Service seeks to provide high-quality youth work that is fun, supportive and led by young people in Godalming and surrounding villages. Our groups are free to access and fun throughout the year. For more information and to register, please visit: www.godalmingyouth.uk
Eligility Criteria
Godalming Youth Service is part of Godalming Town Council. Because of this, only residents of Godalming's neighbourhoods (eg: Farncombe, Aaron's Hill, Godalming Central, Ockford Ridge, Busbridge) will be allocated places. For young people wanting to access our activities for the first time, we will ask that they attend a Broadwater Youth Centre based day BEFORE accepting any bookings for a youth day out. Further details of Town Council's Parish boundaries are available here: https://godalming-tc.gov.uk/town-council-overview/ We also welcome young people from the following surrounding areas outside our Parish boundaries: Witley, Milford, Compton.
