A summary
Dig into Nature at The Community Growing Farm! This summer, we’re swapping one of our usual HAF sessions for something a little different – and a lot greener! Get ready for a fun-filled day at The Community Farm in Chew Magna, where young people can explore the great outdoors, get stuck into growing and cooking, and discover where their food really comes from. Set in the stunning Chew Valley, this working organic farm grows a wide variety of delicious fruit and veg – no animals, just nature at its best! From buzzing bees to soaring buzzards, the farm is also home to amazing wildlife, offering a peaceful and inspiring place to learn, play, and connect with the environment. About the farm The Community Farm is a vegetable growing farm; there are no cows or sheep but there is lots of wildlife and stunning views of Chew Lake. For more information about the farm you can visit their website here. The day will include a tour, picking, and cooking and we provide all the food and drinks for the day, you just need to bring yourselves! On the day, there will be two of the Children’s Kitchen team leading the food session, with help from a member of the Farm to lead the growing and picking. Session outline In the session we will visit the Farm’s polytunnels and fields to pick a range of seasonal fruits and vegetables. We will cook together with the group and create a delicious lunch featuring farm produce and the contents of a Community Farm Organic Veg Box. Our cookery session is hands-on and suitable for all abilities. What’s in Store?
