A summary
Children aged 8 to 12 who qualify for HAF and have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are invited to join our coaches for active challenges and games. Activities could include working out how to move water over a distance using a leaky bottle, parachute games, a hunt to find the clues and help break the code, or participants designing an obstacle course. Activities are delivered in small supportive groups, tailored to each child’s needs. Refer to the section on SEND SUPPORT to learn more about the care provided. All participants receive a hot meal. Meal times can be adapted if it is challenging for your child to eat as part of a group. A few T&Cs from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over Summer, Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back on to an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.

About your mentor
Whitehawk Family Hub
Family Hubs support families in Brighton & Hove
Family Hubs support families in Brighton & Hove with children aged from age 0 to 19. Young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) can access our services up to age 25. There are four main Family Hubs, but we deliver services from other locations in Brighton & Hove.
SEND support
Our support workers are trained to work with a variety of needs. The team can support children with SEND who would benefit from 1:4 support, with limited availability for those requiring 1:1 or 1:2 support. We are committed to supporting children’s individual needs to ensure all participants have a positive and safe experience. If your child has SEND, please list this in your booking request and we’ll call to learn more about the child and work together to understand how the child can be best supported. There will be times when it is not possible to put the level of support in place required. All children with SEND will be given a key worker. Arrival is flexible and time is given for participants to settle. We are a secure site and have a quiet break out zone. All areas and activities are labelled using PECs. Once the booking is confirmed, we will email all Bookers with a visual weekly activity schedule, and a menu of the hot meals being provided. Please message us with any questions.

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience is an educational activity and the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 therefore applies. After the 14 day period my standard policy will apply.
