EHCP Summer Access Day - British Motor Museum block mentored by British Motor Museum
What we'll do
Please note that a maximum of 2 adults and 4 siblings may attend. Transport is not provided. Join us at the British Motor Museum on Access Day to enjoy our fantastic collection on a day dedicated to maximising accessibility for all! We are committed to ensuring that our spaces are accessible and inclusive as they can be, with continued additions, upgrades and changes to the Museum to make it as welcoming as possible, regardless of accessibility requirements. During our Access Days, we’ll be showcasing a whole host of exciting accessible activities and initiatives; later opening hours, specially adapted crafts, and SEND and sensory bags are just some of the ways we aim to create the best museum experience for those with additional needs. Touch and Access Tours - Come along and join the Learning Team on one of our hands-on sensory Touch and Access Tours. These sensory guided tours bring the collection to life, allowing visitors to get up close to and touch a number of the cars in the Museum. Sign up for Touch and Access Tour, at the Family Activity Station and join the tour from the designated meeting point by the Museum Pay Desk. Timetable - 10.15am - 11am - 11.15am - 12pm - 1.15pm - 2pm - 2.15pm - 3pm - 3.15pm - 4pm - 4.15pm – 5pm - 5.15pm -6pm Relaxed Hours - 9am -10am and 5pm - 6 pm Café - The café will be open until 5.30 pm. Food is provided for each child over 5 years and each adult. On Access Day, we will be enabling those who need a quieter environment to enjoy our wonderful car collection with ‘Relaxed Hours’. Audiovisuals and hand dryers will be switched off (paper towels will be provided), and the lighting will be lowered. Learning Hub –10am - 5pm Step into the Learning Hub and discover the craft activity on offer and Museum objects to explore. There will also be large Lego bricks to play with and costumes for dressing up! SEND and Sensory Bags Our SEND and Sensory bags are available to borrow during your visit to the museum, providing a range of items to help make your visit to the Museum easier. SEND Bags include: Fidget Toys/Museum Teddy Bear/Magnifying Glass/SEND-friendly Trails/PECS Cards Sensory Bags include: Stress Toy/Magnifying Glass /Ear defenders These are subject to availability so please visit the Family Activity Station to request one on your arrival. Quiet room - 10 am to 5 pm For anyone who needs a bit of time out there will be a quiet room available in the Museum’s Learning Hub Changing Places Toilet A new permanent Changing Places toilet has been installed, thanks to grant funding provided by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities with support from Stratford on Avon District Council in association with Muscular Dystrophy UK. This new facility is designed to accommodate those with accessibility needs, with specialist equipment, such as a hoist and extra space for carers. Café - The café will be open until 5.30 pm
