A summary

Children arrive and settle into a calm outdoor space before heading into the woods to build dens, explore, climb trees and take part in nature crafts using natural materials found on site. We gather for simple group games, creative projects and shared activities, with time to relax, connect, make friends and enjoy being outdoors in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment together. Sessions are led by experienced facilitators and adapted to suit the needs and interests of the group.

Outdoor learning and community connection

Dodnaze Community Association is a community-led organisation based in Hebden Bridge, providing inclusive activities that support wellbeing, connection and access to nature. We work with children, young people and families through outdoor learning, holiday provision and creative community projects, with a focus on building confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging. Our sessions are welcoming, supportive and designed to be accessible to all, including those facing financial hardship or additional needs.

Info for Parents

Sessions run from 10:00am to 3:00pm, starting at Dodnaze Community Centre before walking to our nearby woodland site. Children spend most of the day outdoors taking part in nature-based activities, so please dress for all weather with waterproofs, sturdy footwear and spare clothes. Children should bring a packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle. Please inform us of any allergies, medical needs or additional support requirements when booking. Children aged 8+ can be dropped off, younger children must attend with an adult. We work to a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children. Children who require 1:1 support will need to attend with an appropriate adult. We keep groups small to ensure a calm, supportive environment.
