A summary
Join Heidi, our Active Hastings Adult Weight Management Specialist Instructor, for our low impact and low intensity exercise class, that makes you feel great! Classes vary each week, so you’ll never get bored! Exercises include: low impact aerobics, weights, stretch, circuits and conditioning. All exercises have adaptions or alternatives to make the class suitable for all levels, hard and easy options available. Optional weekly weigh-ins. This class is for people who are overweight and living with diabetes and/or high blood pressure* Please bring an exercise mat and water bottle with you. If you do not have a mat, and would like us to provide one for you, please let us know. We have more ‘Creating a Healthier You’ classes taking place throughout the week and at various locations, see our listing page for details. For more information, please email Heidi at activehastings@hastings.gov.uk *The class is for people who have a BMI over 30 (or 27.5 for those of Black or Asian ethnic background) alongside either diabetes and/or hypertension, or have been through an Active Hastings Adult Weight Management course. New sliding ticket prices for 2025 We believe everyone should have access to exercise and it shouldn’t be a luxury or privilege. Therefore, to ensure our sessions are accessible to everyone, we are excited to introduce a new sliding ticket system on all our Active Hastings sessions, so you can choose what you can afford to pay. The sliding ticket system will give you the opportunity to choose from three ticket options: £3: Suggested ticket price To support the running costs of the class and to keep the session going £2: A little helping hand Don't let cost be a barrier, have a lower price ticket if you need to Free ticket: Need it on us For people on low income and benefits. Our free ticket option will work on a trust basis, and we hope people who can, will pay for the suggested or little helping hand ticket; leaving the free ticket option for people who need them. We will be trialling the new sliding ticket system until the end of February, and if sessions remain sustainable after this date (which we very much hope they do), we will continue this new price system. Active Hastings
Physical activity sessions for everyone!
Active Hastings is an externally funded partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have been working in partnership since 2006 to give local residents easy, fun ways to get their everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week for adults and 60 minutes every day for children to benefit your health, both mental and physical. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots! All of our team are experienced sports coaches, fitness instructors and play workers, who are passionate about working with people of all ages in Hastings and St Leonards. We run free or low cost sessions throughout the year, as well as holiday activities as part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme.

Active Hastings Instructor
I am an experienced instructor, teaching exercise to music classes for over 20 years. I specialise in working with women and girls designing and developing programmes to help them become more active. I have a big interest in nutrition and weight management and I coordinate the Active Hastings weight management programme and also run my own nutrition business. I am a qualified personal trainer, exercise to music instructor, exercise referral instructor, pre and post natal instructor and I have a level 4 in Obesity and Diabetes. I am currently working towards my level 4 in Nutrition and will hold a membership with the Royal Society of Public Health.
