About your mentor
CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service)
Peacemaking in Brixton through youth work
CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service) aims to bring about peace and reconciliation in areas of conflict or tension. We have over 59 years’ experience helping communities in the UK, Cyprus, India, the Philippines, Northern Ireland and Uganda; with our current projects being in Northern Ghana and Brixton, UK. We help communities build futures free from violent conflict through practical projects that both tackle the root causes of the division and bring the sides together to build trust and healthy relationships. 11 years ago, we were invited to start a project in Brixton after an increase in serious youth violence. CHIPS engages in daily activities aimed at empowering underserved communities and addressing serious youth violence following the public health approach. Our activities support young people, families, and the wider community.
What we'll do
Join us for four weeks of fun, creativity and adventure this summer! Each day starts with a free breakfast before we dive into exciting activities for young people aged 9–16. Mondays and Tuesdays are packed with creative and active sessions in Brixton – from multisports and dance to carnival-themed crafts, candle making, photography, spoken word, podcasting, smoothie mixology, and our body butter ‘Hocus Potions’ workshop. We’ll also run a fun ‘Come Dine With Me’ cooking challenge across the month! Wednesdays are all about getting out of Brixton with our Trips Off Endz – swimming at the Pavilion in Bromley, exploring the Science Museum, bouncing at Air Thrill, and in the final week, putting on our very own community carnival in Angell Town using everything we’ve made and learned. Families are warmly invited to join us for the carnival celebration! Wednesday trips: 6th August = Swimming @ The Pavilion in Bromley 13th August = Science Museum in South Kensington 20th August = Air Thrill in Catford 27th August = Angell Town Carnival (families welcome) Lunch will be provided every day.

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.
