What we'll do
'The perfect day out', since 1999. Guided river adventures on one of Britain's most beautiful stretches of water, in giant canoes that are fun, safe, stable and inclusive to all ages and abilities. We mainly set out from the magnificent Maltsters Arms, Tuckenhay, or Stoke Gabriel Quay, by the Rivershack Devon. These are the best places on the estuary to go from as you're straight out into the most magnificent stretches of the river, with access to the best pubs, remote spots for wildlife, swimming and getting away from it all. We can start from other places on the estuary with planning and a small charge for the additional logistics. Our trips are scheduled around the tide so timings are slightly different each day. Adventures last for 3.5 to 5 hours and we're not paddling all the time. In fact we spend as much time on the shore as we do on the water. We break the paddling up into 20-50 minute sections, with two decent breaks on the shore in between. And we start and end by the pub! 5 adult/teen paddlers or more? You can book your own private trip. Max group size 60 adults! 5 or fewer paddlers? Join one of our scheduled trips. We offer three types of scheduled trips in 2026 All Aboard Family Classics Paddle to the Pub and Home by Moonlight', and Nature Adventures And for kids, check our Riverschool Holiday Club - no adults required! We are available for private group bookings all year round. To enquire please email hello@canoeadventures.co.uk, call 07706 343744 or find our contact form on our website.

The Magic itinerary
Our trips are scheduled around the tide so timings are slightly different each day. Our adventures usually involve two decent stops, over 4-5 hours, so we're not paddling all the time. In fact we spend as much time on the shore as we do on the water. One village pub/cafe stop, normally at Stoke Gabriel, Dittisham or Tuckenhay, with toilets, bar and ice creams. (excl. Nature Adventures) One longer, ‘wild’ stop on the shore somewhere only accessible by boat. Here we have a picnic (bring your own), chill out, build a fire, have a brew (we provide), whatever is appropriate to the age and interests of the group. We watch the tide turn and once it is running in our favour we paddle back. ALL ages and abilities welcome. No prior experience needed. We break the paddling up into 20-50 minute sections, with decent breaks in between. We know how to keep your youngsters engaged all day, and how to keep things gentle for those of us who need to take it a bit more easy. Each canoe is skippered by fun, qualified skipper/guide with bushcraft and adventure experience and expert in providing good fun times for parties. Private group bookings - all our trips are available for booking by private groups. Min group size 5, Max 65! We have many more date options than are advertised here, and can start at other places around the estuary, including exclusively The Maltsters Arms, Tuckenhay. Please message us directly to enquire.
