ACE Christmas HAF Programme block mentored by Alternative Curriculum Education Centre CIC

What we'll do

We will offer a fun filled programme of activities for children aged eight to sixteen that supports children with SEND. Activities will include woodwork and crafts making various Christmas items like gonks, Christmas trees, ornaments, toys, cards and gifts. We will also run fun cooking sessions from making our own lunch and snacks including healthy pitta pizzas, fruit crumble and cookies incorporating food hygiene and health & safety in all we do. We will also provide a variety of free play activities including basic hairdressing and beauty, football table, pool table, Connect 4, Scalextric, Lego and Playmobil and table tennis along with lots of board games, cards and dominoes. We will also have lots of competitions and quizzes and team building games like tug of war and practical problem solving activities.

Alternative Curriculum Education Centre (ACE) supports children and young people by providing both academic and practical activities in a safe caring environment. Each child is valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Learning aims

Aim 1

To help prepare and make a nutritious meal in a safe and hygenic manner. Design and make a recipe card to take home and look at the cost and nutritional value of the food made.

Aim 2

To learn basic woodworking skills using various tools safely, design an item to be made out of wood and paint or varnish it to take home.

Aim 3

To work as part of a team to problem solve fostering positive peer relationships.
