What we'll do
THIS COURSE:
Yoga is for every body type and every person. You will learn how to teach all different types of bodies and abilities. The training is divided into three parts.
During the first weekend, you will meet Lezanne and Heather the course leaders, who have been running Yoga Teacher Trainings from their School in Barcelona for over 10 years. During the weekend you will review the alignment and explore the yoga styles they teach, delving into the anatomy of yoga. You will also have the opportunity to start to structure and schedule the online components of your course with the course leaders so they fit your needs; all this while connecting with other students on the course and enjoying a relaxing weekend by the beach.
After the first weekend, we will hold live online sessions to cover topics such as philosophy, chakras, and the business of yoga. The dates and times for these sessions will be discussed and finalized during the first weekend. These online sessions will take place in October and December.
At the retreat center, the daily schedule generally starts with a vinyasa asana practice, including pranayama breathing, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. This may also include meditation. Afterward, there will be a short break for breakfast. The morning sessions will focus on alignment or theory topics, such as philosophy, chakras, Ayurveda, adjustments, anatomy, and sequencing. Days will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 6:00 PM, with a lunch break around 1:00 PM.
All meals during the course are vegan and will be lovingly prepared by Yasmin. Please inform us of any food allergies when you sign up for the training.
During the November week, we will explore different styles of yoga, adjustments, and practice teaching. The final week in January will focus on practicing your 60-minute sequences and preparing for both the theory and practical exams.
When time permits, Heather will also cover yoga for athletes, while Lezanne will discuss yoga as therapy, addressing various health concerns. The training will feature 3-4 instructors, including Abi, our local yoga teacher, who will assist with alignment and lead some yoga classes. Additionally, guest teachers from the UK may join the sessions.
Lezanne and Heather bring a balanced yin-and-yang approach to teaching yoga. Lezanne, often referred to as “Mother Earth,” has exceptional knowledge of philosophy, biomechanics, and nearly every aspect of yoga. Heather complements this with her practical focus on the business side of yoga, drawing from her background in sales and marketing. Heather is also a yoga business coach and is happy to answer any questions about your future career.
There are two assessments in this course. The first is a written theory test, and the second is a 60- to 75-minute practical test where you will design and teach your own vinyasa sequence, including adjustments and the use of props. You will have an opportunity to practice teaching your 60-minute sequence before the final exam.
By the end of this course, you will feel confident in your ability to teach yoga to friends and family with ease.

Certifications
Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
YogaLinda Yoga Teacher training courses are recognized by the Yoga Alliance. When the course is completed, you will hold a 200-hour certified yoga instructor license and be able to teach Vinyasa, Hatha, and regular temperature yoga in studios anywhere in the world.
The days are full of both mental and physical stimulation. Every day starts off with a two-hour asana practice including pranayama and a short meditation. The intensive schedule is six days a week with Saturdays off so you can rest your muscles and explore the area, new friendships with other participants, and start to formulate your questions and the direction you want to take the course in.
The first part of the course is more on theory and practicing different types of yoga such as Yin and Restorative. The later part of the training is focused more on practice teaching where you learn how to sequence Vinyasa classes, practice teaching with blocks, straps, and blankets, learn how to adjust students, how to deal with injuries and variations of postures, as well as prenatal and Acro yoga.
WEEKEND ONE
During the first weekend, you will meet Lezanne and Heather, review the alignment of sun salutations, explore the yoga styles they teach, and delve into the anatomy of yoga. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with other students on the course and enjoy a relaxing weekend by the beach.
WEEK ONE
History of Yoga
Yoga has a rich and fascinating history. The yoga people are practicing today would not exist without the legacy of some key figures. YogaLinda pays homage to these master teachers and the main schools of yoga that they founded and how that has brought yogis to the Vinyasa yoga practiced now.
Philosophy
As students deepen their relationship with their yoga practice, the underlying philosophical aspects start to move more to the forefront of their experience. Having knowledge of the philosophy behind this practice is integral to continue nurturing themselves as they continue on the yogic path.
This includes studying the ancient texts such as Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra which outlines the eight-limbed path of yoga and the Bhagavad Gita, and why these texts are still so relevant today to practitioners and teachers.
Alignment
An essential tool in being able to practice and teach well is the correct and safe alignment of the body in a posture. This will start with the alignment of Surya Namaskara A (sun salutation A), as they are the foundation of the Vinyasa yoga practice, assessing and guiding each teacher trainee with their own practice first.
Most of the Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series are covered as well as variations on those poses. You will be taught how to get into and out of the most common inversions, such as handstands, shoulder stands, and headstands in a safe and fun way.
Pranayama
On many levels, the attention placed on being present and consciously cultivating the breath as one moves through the asana practice is what distinguishes yoga from other forms of physical exercise.
Throughout the four weeks of the course, you will be integrating various pranayama practices into your daily asana routine to become more familiar with them, also exploring their effects and benefits on body, mind, and spirit.
Meditation
All of the various things that are done in the yoga practice are designed to bring the mind under control. To be able to sit and through practice, one becomes the master as opposed to the slave of their minds.
You will learn to become quiet and tune in to yourself and tune out the outside world and the constant noise that surrounds you. In order to start cultivating the habit of sitting, short meditation sessions will be incorporated into daily practice to start to fine-tune this skill.
Learning to instruct
You will be presented with the tools you need to be able to direct a student’s movement with clarity and a minimum of words as you lead them through a class. In addition, you will be able to guide them into a pose using props, such as blocks, straps, and blankets, making the class accessible to everyone.
This is the very basis of learning to teach, and then as you grow more confident leading students through physical asana practice, you’ll be able to start to add in the underlying principles of yoga philosophy.
Anatomy
It’s important to have a commonly agreed-upon terminology, a language of movement, when discussing the anatomy of yoga. This also enables participants to communicate more precisely when discussing things such as the location of bones and bony landmarks; the location, attachments, and actions of muscles; and the anatomy of yoga asana.
Familiarizing yourself with these terms will help you understand yoga anatomy articles and books that you read, create more consciousness within the muscle and joint actions in each posture, and enable you to more skillfully articulate those actions to your students through effective verbal cues and hands-on adjustments.
Energy Body
The group will delve deeper into the second kosha or sheath, i.e. the energy body in order to learn more about the powerful role that the nadis, chakras, vayus, bandhas, and granthis play in yoga practice when they are brought into balance.
WEEK TWO
Different styles and types of yoga
You will be exploring different styles and types of yoga during this week, such as Yin yoga, Acroyoga, prenatal yoga, Restorative yoga, etc. to help broaden your perspective on the many styles of yoga that is being offered and practiced today.
Yoga for everybody
YogaLinda prides itself on equipping its teacher trainees with the ability to go out into the world and teach anybody, not just those who are able-bodied.
They will show you how to make not just a pose, but essentially the practice accessible, and more importantly, safe to virtually any student that walks into your class by offering different variations and adjustments for postures.
They also place a great deal of importance on the correct use of props such as blocks, straps, blankets, and the wall in order to safely get into and out of a posture, and in this way also prevent injuries from occurring.
Adjusting
Learn the art of adjusting a pose from the ground up, whether it is by using verbal cues or physical touch. You’ll be taught how to use observation to assess whether or not a student is practicing in a way that is optimal for their body and ability and according to that, offer an adjustment.
Yoga business
There will be discussions on ways in which to make your vision of your yoga business a reality, by looking at all the many options available to offer your unique service to the world.
Heather has a strong marketing background and will be able to offer tips and advice for starting out as a yoga teacher, whether it is by offering private sessions, group classes or opening your own studio.
We will be learning from AbiGilesYoga.com how she runs a hugely successful international Yoga retreat business and how you can too.
We will learn from the heads of Voga Yoga Studio in London how they run a studio in the most amazing city on Earth.
We will learn about how they use Flow psychology in Surf Therapy, and how this links to the state of flow in yoga practice for vulnerable children with The Wave Project leader Georgia Pine.
Sherezade Ruano from The British Cardia Research Trust will talk about how her team conducted the necessary trials to prove Yoga served as a beneficial treatment for heart issues and thus their programs can be prescribed (and paid for) by the government on their programs for people with heart issues.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the ancient sister science of yoga. The two go hand-in-hand to assure health and balance in people's minds and bodies. Your constitution, which is made up of the three doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha, determines what kinds of food to eat, in which way to practice yoga, and much more in order to bring the doshas back into balance.
Practice teaching
You’ll be offered plenty of opportunity to find your voice as a teacher, as you design your own Vinyasa sequence and then teach it to your fellow teacher trainees, with constructive feedback to help you improve.
YogaLinda teaches in small groups, making use of props, playing sequencing games, and learning how to guide students through meditation and pranayama.
You can be sure that you will not only be but also feel, more than ready to confidently teach an hour-long, well-balanced class when you have completed this training.
Evaluation
There will be two tests. The first is a written theory examination. The second is a 60-75-minute test where you teach and create your own Vinyasa sequence, adjust students, and use props. You will have an opportunity to practice teaching your 60-minute sequence before the final exam.
After you complete this course, you will feel confident to be able to teach your friends and family with ease. YogaLinda believes yoga is for every body type and every person, thus, you will learn how to teach all these groups of people.
The teacher training with YogaLinda at Delta Vegan Retreat is directed towards anyone who is interested in exploring the essence of yoga and refining their practice both for personal enrichment and for becoming a yoga teacher. The course is very practical, and you will have ample time to practice teaching and learn how to create your own Vinyasa sequences safely.
This teacher training follows the standards of Yoga Alliance. When the course is completed, you will hold a 200-hour certified yoga instructor license and be able to teach yoga in any yoga studio in the world.
Instructors
There are generally six teachers on each course with Lezanne and Heather providing a real Yin and Yang approach to teaching yoga. Each instructor is an expert in their field and you will get a broad spectrum of styles and types of yoga in this training.
When time allows, Heather also covers yoga for sports athletes while Lezanne and Morgan discuss yoga as therapy when discussing health concerns.
Lezanne is often called Mother Earth since her knowledge in philosophy and biomechanics and pretty much any topic of yoga is astounding. Heather meanwhile provides the more practical, business side of teaching yoga as her background before yoga was in sales and marketing. She is also a yoga business coach so she will be happy to help in any way she can regarding any questions about your future careers.
