About your mentors
Suffolk Libraries
Where I belong.
We’re the independent charity that runs Suffolk’s library service. We nurture children’s literacy, support vulnerable people and promote wellbeing across Suffolk.
Toto (Antonio Reche Martinez)
Creation is life, life is creation.
I am a Spanish National and an Artist. My love for the different arts disciplines make me an all round artist. I have my degree from the London School of Fashion in special effects for movies and theatre. This three year course provided me with ample knowledge in make-up costume, sets, puppetry and special effects. I then worked 9 years in a pantomime company, designing and making all the aspect of the production. All my life I’ve been working in different disciplines in the Arts. I also use my knowledge to present workshops for adults and children, something that I love to do. I have diplomas in Drawing, Ceramics and in Teaching for adult education. For several years I was a Spanish language assistant at a middle school, where I also ran many art workshops, including award winning designs for local carnivals. In 2004 I came third in an important costume competition, awarded by Zandra Rhodes. More recently, I have published my first illustrated children’s book, “The Frog’s Kiss”. I can be writing for a long time but that I think gives you a little idea of me.
Alice Andrea Ewing
I am an artist and a founder-sculptor
Alice Andrea Ewing is an artist and a founder-sculptor with a foundry and studio in Suffolk. She studied Art History at Cambridge University before training to cast in the Italian or Renaissance Lost Wax process. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, collaborated with fashion label Loewe, and produced commissions for Aldourie Castle, The Newt in Somerset and Soho Farmhouse. In 2015 she established The Portable Foundry Project, designing creative educational programmes to encourage confidence in young people through engagement with sculpture and foundry activities. She has also designed and delivered a number of well-being and mental health programmes connected to the Arts. These include pilot programmes for Suffolk Art Link and NHS Primary Care Personalised Care Programmes. She has Mental Health first aid training and a foundation in Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Michelle Brace
Digital artist and visual mixer
I describe my work as digital mixed media. I use all kinds of things as visual source material including moving image, natural materials, collage, mark making, text and photographic textures to build colourful visual compositions. I've recently been collaborating with dancers, musicians and other visual artists to make studio based work and work for live performance and projection. I often work with communities producing and facilitating projects and have a current emphasis on developing my creative practice to support mental health and well-being.
Holly Scholfield
Experienced Artist specialising in print
I am a freelance artist, designer and teacher. My expertise lies in printmaking, drawing and textiles, with a particular interest in pattern, chaos, embellishment and costume. I love to draw in museums and the natural world to inspire new work. I trained at Central St Martins in Fine Art and then completed an MA at NUA specialising in print and textiles. I regularly exhibits my work, have shown in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and illustrate for publications.
Nat
Audio-visual Participatory artist
Nat is an audio-visual participatory artist working with creative technologies to construct interactive, sensory objects and spaces that invite curiosity and play. They believe play and co-creative spaces are incredibly important and that creative technologies are powerful tools for inquiry, learning and collaboration. They have facilitated spaces using creative technologies in playful ways with artists, students, families and early years across the East.
