Each day, attendees will - prepare, cook and bake various snacks, drinks and lunches inspired by recipes from Barcelona; - 'shop' for the ingredients from a 'market' set-up - enjoy arts & crafts, music, games, challenges, fun and frolics inside and outside; - eat and drink the food they've made in café/restaurant settings they set up; - get outdoors as much as possible - learn some words and phrases in the local language Parents and carers will again be invited to join us at the end of each session to see what we've been up and to share some food tips and tastings - simple ideas from abroad to bring new, healthy and economical food and drink into the festive or daily menu at home.
About your mentors
All Abroad! Bus / Julia Vogado
Cook, eat, make, play, travel, languages, fun, music
All Abroad! Bus aims to 'transport' people abroad, by immersing them in the places, cultures, languages, people, food & drink from other countries - without having to leave their local area, as it's not always easy or possible to travel abroad on a regular basis, if at all. Together with some teenage helpers, creative collaborators and native speakers, I've run holiday clubs as part of the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme since summer 2021 and it's so lovely to see so many of the same children and young people coming back again and again because they know it's a fun and safe space to spend time - and they love the food! I'm a qualified languages teacher (of French. Spanish and German) but I'm happiest teaching without the constraints of a classroom, which is why you're more likely to find me running clubs and other workshops and experiences as well as tutoring. Roll on Easter and feel free to contact me with any questions ;-)
