A summary

Half day copper workshop for beginners and dabblers alike!! We will forge beautiful and unique objects to adorn your house & garden!! During this half day workshop we will be upcycling old copper (mostly pipes) into new and wonderful things! Copper is an ancient semi-precious metal which has a rich history but is still extensively used today in so many differnet industries and crafts; this is partly due to its versatile nature and corrosion resistance, but also the fact it is highly recyclable and in that respect is a sustainable material to use. The rich rose-gold colour is another reason it is so popular and it can be finished in a variety of ways to achieve a real variation of colours and effects too, which means it can suit lots of different environments and decors. The focus of this workshop will be on teaching how copper behaves and which techniques and tools to use in order to work with and manipulate it into simple shapes and designs. We will learn about simple joining method...

About your Mentor

Dee at Wild Woodland Workshops

Hello! I’m Dee and I am a Designer / Maker / Facilitator / life long learner / teacher, as well as wife, mother, step-mum, friend, mentor and guide. I have been creating and fixing things since my childhood – it’s part of who I am. I have studied and practised Art, Design, Craft and Manufacturing in many different guises over the years, starting with a Foundation course and then a degree in Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion, with the intention of becoming a wedding dress designer! As life does, it took me on a different creative path and I decided to combine my passion for designing and making with my enjoyment of sharing knowledge and skills…so I trained to be a Teacher – specialising in Design & Technology. Perfect! I love teaching and through it I have had many opportunities to experiment and develop my skills and my love of creativity has continued to thrive! As well as being Head of Design Technology for over 10 years I became drawn to outdoor education through bus...
