I'm happiest in nature
The idea of this block of sessions is to meet other mums who have had a baby during lockdown or more recently. Rather than a traditional drop in parent and child session, where you might not get to know everyone, we'd like to provide a safe outdoor space where we can come together and share a cuppa, stories, craft and emotional support. Getting to know the same people over a period of time. By booking these sessions you are committing to a 4 week block, or a drop in if they become available during the block. Please note, we cannot accept additional siblings at these sessions if they are over 2, unless you have spoken with us prior to booking. If your child is a confident walker nearer 2 years old and interested in the outdoors, then I would suggest you look at our morning sessions for toddlers. You can find these by searching Leafy Learners
About your Mentor
About your Mentor
I have always been an outdoor person, encouraged by my parents from a young age to enjoy and immerse myself in nature. As an adult I have gained various skills and qualifications, so that I can teach and inspire others to spend more time finding out about the world around them and how to interact and learn from it. I have been a Primary School Teacher since 2008, a mum since 2016 and a Forest School Leader since 2019. Being outside in the fresh air is the best form of medicine to me and every day I need to get that outdoor fix, either by playing outside with my son, walking the dogs, or teaching. I would love you to join us on this new journey to bring lockdown mums together.
How will the session run and what should I bring?
This group is held at our temporary home in Salfords at Monotype Sports and Social Club (old bowls area). Each week we will come together as a group/circle to stretch and breathe, chat, have a cuppa and eat something nice! We may have a stroll some weeks. There will also be optional crafts to try (resources provided). We will set out a play activity each week for the babies/toddlers, but feel free to bring a few toys for your blanket. We may also book in a guest or two (local activity provider) What should you bring? * A blanket for your baby to sit/lay on and perhaps a couple of toys * A camping chair if you'd prefer * A travel mug with a lid - we will provide tea, coffee, fruit teas, biscuits and milk * A sling (ideally) or buggy if you prefer for walking Facilities * There is plenty of free parking *There is a toilet and an indoor area to change babies Please note - we often take photos at these sessions for our social media.
