A summary
We will be running Summer HAF (Holidays and Food) Camps based at the Dogsthorpe Den. Each session will run from 1.00 - 5.00pm. Pupils will take part in a range of activities, a healthy meal will be provided. We have 24 fully funded places available for children who are eligible for Free School Meals. Places are funded by the Department for Education. We will offer places first to eligible pupils of the Dogsthorpe Academy, if we have spaces left they will be offered to siblings attending Dogsthorpe Infant School or other Greenwood Academies Trust schools.

The Dogsthorpe Den is Dogsthorpe Academy’s Before and After school Care Club. We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to provide safe, stimulating and enjoyable childcare for children who attend Dogsthorpe Academy. We also offer access to childcare to pupils at our neighbouring school, Dogsthorpe Infant School, Hampton Academies Trust and to pupils from other Greenwood Academies Trust academies. When offering places to pupils from other schools, we will always aim to support families by prioritising the siblings of Dogsthorpe Academy pupils. The Dogsthorpe Den Before and After school Care Club is run by suitably qualified staff who are employed by the Greenwood Academies Trust.
Enriching & physical activities
Enrichment activities: During HAF camps, the Dogsthorpe Den team endeavour to provide a range of enrichment activities. Children take part in a range of crafting activities - painting, crafting, painting t-shirts and bags, salt dough, games etc. The Den has it’s own garden – children will maintain throughout the camps -Weeding, digging, planting flowers and seeds, decorate plant pots etc. Children in the HAF camp also have access to wider Dogsthorpe Academy site including its Forest School. Children will take part in Forest school activities including pond dipping, tree climbing, den building, bushcraft activities including around the campfire such as singing, games, making s’mores. (list not exhaustive, an indicator). Physical activities: Children attending HAF at the Dogsthorpe Den will engage in daily physical activity. The den has access to the full Dogsthorpe Academy playing fields, sports hall and playground areas. Activities planned include football, tennis, cricket, basketball, dance and rounders. We will also provide access to other fun, sporting activities such as roller skates, skateboarding and BMX bikes. Example 4 hour session: 1.00 - 1.30 Arrival, welcome, settling activities 1.30-2.30 Arts and craft 2.30-2.40 Drink and snack 2.40-3.30 Other activity e.g. Forest School experience, cookery 3.30 - 4.00 Physical activity 4.00 - 4.30 High tea 4.30 - 5.00 Free play session – e.g. Board games, role play, lego. Small world play, pool, football
Learning aims
Aim 1
The den team fosters friendship, social skills, and emotional learning. They also offer learning opportunities, including access to “The Dogsthorpe Den” library.
Aim 2
The den team focus on promoting healthy habits, exercise, hygiene, sun safety, & emotional well-being. They address mental health, online safety, & community care. ????
