I'm happiest in nature
What we'll do
This block of 6 sessions will be at the Monotype Sports and Social Club in Salfords (Old bowls area). Join us with your child (confident walkers - Age 7) on a forest school inspired journey. We might explore the field and tree area, sing songs, go on treasure hunts, use tools, create woodland inspired crafts, listen to stories and learn about the world around us. When you arrive there will be some free-play activities set out. Feel free to mingle and chat to other parents and children, keeping a safe distance between adults where possible. Whilst outdoors, masks for adults remain optional at our setting. Our sessions start with songs, followed by either a trail, exploration walk or another similar activity. We usually link each week to a theme, like the seasons, or a story. We read a book whilst the children have their snack and drink (provided by you) followed by a craft or related activity to finish. There is a very large tent area in case the weather is not on our side! All r...
About your Mentor
About your Mentor
Many years ago I started out at agricultural college studying conservation and environmental studies with land management. Fast forward 25 years and I'm also a qualified primary school teacher and Level 3 Forest School Leader with a child of my own 2 dogs and a cat. I teach in school part time and spend the rest of the week with my son and Leafy Learners. Most recently I have renewed my first aid qualification and gained my food and hygiene certificate (aimed at cooking outdoors). I belong to the Forest School Association and regularly attend CPD events to keep up to date with forest school ideas and ways of working and learning. I've always been a lover of the outdoors and a believer that when we truly connect with nature, we begin to understand ourselves. I spend a lot of my free time outside, walking with my partner, our blended family and our dogs. We are often gardening, finding new places to explore and crafting using natural resources such as wood and fire. I enjoy cooking and...
