What we'll do
NASA is working towards sending humans to Mars in the next decade. This will be a huge engineering feat. 10am to12 noon – launching and getting to Mars 12.30pm to 2.30pm – landing our space craft and explore the surface Launch and getting to Mars - You will explore how to get to Mars and land your spacecraft. Did you know there is a helicopter on Mars? We will investigate how difficult this is and think about blade designs just like a NASA engineer. How would you land on Mars? In this workshop, we will look at different technologies that engineers and astronauts will need to use to take off and safely land. You can design and build your own lander, and there will be plenty of opportunities for experimentation. You can book for the morning, afternoon or both sessions.
About your mentor
Bloodhound Education Ltd
Inspiring a generation to study STEAM
Bloodhound Education is a charity which delivers hands-on science and engineering activities for schools, uniformed groups, after school and holiday clubs, and the local community. Our charity has 13-years experience delivering practical enrichment workshops engaging families of all ages including under-represented groups and those with complex health or special educational needs. Our workshops enrich the curriculum and make the link between classroom and careers using real engineering projects like Bloodhound Land Speed Record as an educational tool and to explore future sustainable engineering solutions and renewable technology.
