The ancient art of tracking
Mentored by Sacred Earth
Mentor summary: Nature educator & environmentalistFor ages: 8 - 18 years
A SUMMARY
Join us for a fun and exciting day, tracking animals in the landscape. Learn how to read tracks, follow trails and understand animals in the same way that the African San Bushmen do. Tracking is an ancient human skill that helped people survive in the natural environments where they lived. For these people it was partly a hunting skill – enabling them to know which animals were nearby and how they were behaving - but there is much more to it than that. It’s about having a deep understanding of how everything in nature in interconnected. An experienced tracker knows how the different elements of an ecosystem work in harmony with each other. Pretty amazing stuff! This course is suitable for adults and children over the age of eight. Those under 13 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Bring a packed lunch, drink, warm, waterproof clothing, notebook and pen/pencil.
