About your mentor
Square Food Foundation
Bristol's Cookery School & Community Kitchen.
WELCOME TO SQUARE FOOD FOUNDATION We’re a charity that works to reduce hunger, improve health, and bring people together through food and cooking. We've been teaching people to cook for 25 years. We teach people of all ages and abilities how to cook, with the aim of reducing hunger, improving health, and bringing people together. Our students are: primary school children, families accessing food banks, elderly adults at risk of chronic loneliness, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health challenges, young people excluded from mainstream education, and young adults not in education, employment, or training (NEET). We provide a safe, welcoming teaching environment which enables people to develop vital life skills, to make healthier choices which impact their physical health and to build confidence, social skills, and mental wellbeing. Alongside our free and subsidised programmes, we offer teambuilding, private hire and event catering. All profits from these schemes go to the charity to fund our food education work in the community.
Useful Information
1. Please arrive before 10am and wait with your young people at reception. We will need you to come into the kitchen to sign your young people in and let us know who will be collecting them. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any young people who come into the kitchen without an adult (you can leave once you have spoken to the teacher). 2. Please don’t send your young people with food. We encourage the children to sit together and eat what they’ve cooked. If you are concerned that they might not like the food they cook, we will always have bread, cheese and fruit available. We find that if children bring packed lunches, this can be a distraction for others, and we really like to encourage everyone to at least try some of the food they’ve cooked. 3. You do not need to stay with your young people. 4. If your young people can’t make the class, please let us know. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume your young people are still coming and weigh out ingredients for them and set up a workstation. If you let us know they’re not coming, then we won’t waste any ingredients :) 5. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVEN’T REGISTERED WITH US. We realise that sometimes friends want to join at the last minute but unfortunately, we can’t accept anyone who turns up to a class without a booking. 6. Please make sure you have told us about any allergies/dietary requirements/additional support needs. 7. We have a First Aid Kit, and may need to perform first aid if necessary (plasters, burn gel etc).

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
