What we'll do
Stop motion animation, feel-good food & outdoor fun. IMPORTANT!! We have additional SEND support on 2nd and 5th April so please make sure to book those dates if your child has additional learning requirements. Ever wanted to make your own animation? You have come to the right place! Our workshops teach children how to make short animations, including operating cameras, using animation software/ computers and recording sounds. We will also have a screening premiere with parents and siblings and children are sent their films to keep! In addition to animation, Lucie from Feel Good Food provides 20 mins of fun nutritional education/ cooking activities for children. Seasonal-themed animation activities: Easter 2024 – Growth, change and protecting our natural world. We start the day by exploring the attributes of Spring on a walk, collecting materials for animations & underlining the importance of respecting the natural world. We also discuss how vital it is to leave living plants for animals/ the environment & only collect a few fallen resources. We will use these to design animations looking at the crucial role humans have in protecting the natural world and how we might do this better. These films can be shown to other groups afterwards to engender discussion. An example of a nature animation can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wo2EkR368vs Easter Nutrition Activities: 1. Exploring our sense of taste: Taste testing a range of seasonal fruits and vegetables and discussing tastes such as sweet, sour, spicy and peppery.
Cookery activity- Children will learn to make 2 tasty dips Guacamole and feta & tomato for veg. 2. Exploring sense of smell: Exploring herbs and memories, passing round herb pots and asking children what smells remind them of.
Growing Activity - Planting herb cuttings that the children to take home and look after. After lunch, we head out for some games and a play in the park! Lucie from Feel Good Food will provide a nutritious and delicious hot yummy lunch each day. Allergies and intolerances and special diets can be catered for on request (vegetarian/ gluten/dairy-free options provided). ***This activity has been funded through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Free places are available for young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the DfE. Additionally young people in several other target cohorts can attend funded places, such as those with SEND or Looked After Children (LAC). Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.*** Please note that the sessions we are running on days 1 and 2 build on each other. They focus on a different part of animation, whilst retaining core principles. As such we would encourage booking onto day 1 and 2 if this fits with your schedule.
