A summary
The day starts with a brief welcome of the young people and parents, introduction of the team, rules, housekeeping, and plan of the day. The first hours of the day we will encourage young people to do physical activities with the team (obstacle races, dancing, singing, ping pong, dodgeball, etc). They can decide if they want to join the Football Session with the football coaches. After these activities, to recover some energy, we will give children a hot, balanced, healthy and nutritious meal prepared from our incredible chefs Smangele and Avalon. Avalon and Smangele will explain how to prepare those meals and will educate our young children to have a healthy and balanced diet. After dinner, we will continue engaging with our young children with Crafts and Creative activities. We will ask the children to design the new URBOND logo which will decorate the new offices at the Deaf Centre. We also have quiet activities for them to engage such as PlayStation 5, knitting, painting, gaming, board games, books, making their own jewellery, play dough, etc.
About your mentors
Building bigger and stronger communities
URBOND Youth Development Programme is driving opportunities, wellness and success for young people and their future.
Calm, kind and creative!
I have been with URBOND for over a year now. URBOND has given me the platform to keep in touch with my creativity in marketing as my main role, but also have the flexibility to work with children and young people within our Youth Development Programme activities. I am safeguarding and exploitation trained, along with being a Youth Mental Health First Aider.
Calm, caring and easy going!
I have over 10 years of experience working with children in the local community and further afield. I have mentored and provided support and life-changing opportunities to many young people so they can have a better chance for the future. I am looking forward to helping and supporting all the children that can benefit from my experience.
Youth Development Programme Manager
I am fun, caring and love to tell jokes!
Youth Development Program Manager, Social Work and Family Intervention. I have an abundance of almost 10 years experience working with children, young people and families along with a Master’s Degree in family intervention and social education.

Your mentor has not provided a biography, yet. Why not encourage them to write a little bit about their background and teaching style.
What to wear:
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring your water bottles. The weather can be quite unpredictable, so please bring a jacket just in case it is needed. If you are planning to join the football session, please bring your own football boots. If we go out, we will provide children with a Hi-Vis’s jacket to keep everyone safe.
Learning aims
Aim 1
Learn new skills, being creative: Giving children the freedom to create something is a great way to nurture their self-confidence, independence and social and emotional intelligence.
Aim 2
Making new friends! Socialise, learn from different cultures, and building a stronger and inclusive community.
Aim 3
Promoting healthy eating habits for children: At URBOND we promote activities to help children and young people to keep active and to improve their physical and mental well-being. During our HAF days we will provide different sports activities such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball, dancing and obstacle courses. We will also provide opportunities for children and young people to learn about healthy habits and dietary by learning what to include in their meals and how to prepare healthy snacks. We will provide a nutritious and balanced hot meal for all our children and families.
For lunch, we will offer our children and families, healthy and balanced hot and cold options. This will be provided by our amazing cook Smangele at the Deaf Centre. We will adapt the menu to our children cultural and health needs, offering vegan, halal, and gluten free options. The team will also adapt the menu for any specific allergies or intolerances within the group. Lunch Children and Families will be offered a range of handmade options: • Pasta • Veggies & Hummus • Rice • Chicken/beef • Salad Desserts Fruit Bowls & Yoghurts Drinks Squash Still Water
