A summary
That’s A Wrap at The Junction is a short animation film provision co-delivered by a qualified media workshop facilitator from Sunrise Studios with structured activities across each session. Short animation films created will be up to a maximum duration of 5 minutes, and produced videos for the first time, will be showcased at the regional Sunrise Film Festival taking place from 1-4 August 2024 in Lowestoft. The sessions are part of the HAF provision and a small number of subsidised places are funded by Suffolk County Council, and non-funded places are also available for just £2. A nutritional lunch and snacks will be provided each day. The activity will include the following; Stage 1: Pre-production, which will include storyboarding, learning how animation started and its history, and how it works. This will include a demonstration of using a zoetrope (a zoetrope is a traditional pre-film animation device).   Young people will get to storyboard and script their ideas for short films in smaller groups together which will then go through the process of being created.   Stage 2: Production, Young people will develop their ideas into animations, producing their storyboard into a short film. This will be created using backdrops, stop-motion, and hand-crafted characters created out of materials and air-dry clay.   Voice-overs and on-screen text will also be added at this stage, and young people will get to use professional recording equipment for voice-overs (during the sessions we’ll also make a podcast with everyone).   Stage 3: Post-production, young people will learn how to edit and pull together their final short films by cutting everything they’ve created together. A minimum of 60 minutes of exercise per day in the form of fun physical activities during each session.
