About your mentor
Summer Adventure Camp
#Fun #Friendship #Adventure
Summer Adventure Camp is an Ofsted Registered Childcare provider. We offer a range of Adventurous activities. HAF places are funded by the Department for Education and eligible children and young people will be able to enjoy a programme of enriching activities, as well as have a free nutritional meal as part of the programme.
Why choose us?
At 'Summer Adventure Camp' we recognise that choosing who you entrust to look after your child is an important decision, you want to know that the people you choose will care for your child, keep them safe and help them grow and learn. Of course our OFSTED registration ( see our website) is a great 1st step to helping you choose us, as is the our work with WSCC and B&HCC to deliver the HAF programme and the SEND short breaks programme. However it is our belief that our success, and most important to you, is our commitment to choosing those staff that are specialists in their area, this starts from the company directors and camp manager ( Becci is a qualified teacher with an MA in sport) through to all the staff that will be looking after your child on a day to day basis. We have recruited SEND specialist staff that will deliver 1:1 suppor, this is so that the children will have dedicated care and support for the duration of their time at the club with the flexibility of being able to undertake the activities either as part of a larger group, or on a 1:1 basis or to take a break completely into a calm space. This will allow the children to access our key aims of #Fun #Friendship #Adventure in a way that meets their needs.
Learning aims
Aim 1
#Fun - we want every child to enjoy their adventure
Aim 2
#Friendship - we want every child to make friends
Aim 3
#Adventure - we want every child to have an adventure and try new exciting activities
What to bring?
What should my child bring? Children should dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather with suitable footwear, example trainers (most activities will continue even in the rain so a good coat is a must). We suggest you do not send them with new or valuable clothing or belongings. Long trousers and sleeves are essential, long sleeves are also required for archery.  All clothing and belongings should be named. Please provide and apply sun protection cream each morning, we ask that you show your child how to do this before they attend camp. Spray on sun lotion is a good option for younger children as the staff can do this for them and the children can then rub in themselves. Staff will remind children at break times to apply sun cream and help younger ones if needed. It is also a good idea to send a broad-brimmed hat that shades the face, neck and ears. All children should bring a lunchbox to camp, however, as we do not have refrigeration facilities at the camps, we suggest you provide a small cool bag (lunch box size) containing a frozen carton of juice or a small ice pack. This will keep the contents cold until lunchtime. In addition to their lunch drink we also ask that they bring a water bottle for use on activities. What shouldn’t my child bring to camp? We strongly advise that children don’t bring mobile telephones, watches, computer games, ipods and such like on to camp. There is no real use for these items and they are often mislaid as children are busy and excited doing other things. Our staff will not put themselves in a difficult position by taking care of such items and we cannot accept responsibility if they are lost or stolen. Due to health and hygiene reasons, we are unfortunately unable to allow any birthday cakes (or any other food treats) to be brought onto camp to be shared with the groups. What if my child has difficulty settling at camp? We understand that some children find it hard to settle into a new environment, we will talk with you at drop off about what works best for your child and ways that we can help them make the most of camp. My child has a specific medical condition / medicine. You will have informed us on the booking form of any medical conditions, and in all likelihood we have had a phone conversation with you, however if there are any changes please let us know at drop off so we are able to take the best care of your child. What if my child is ill or has an accident at camp? Don’t worry we are well prepared and all of our staff are First Aid qualified. Fortunately almost everything we have to deal with are grazes on knees, stings and so on. However should a child suffer a more serious injury or fall ill at camp you will be contacted immediately. We will check that we have the correct contact information for you on the first day. If your child is ill on the morning of camp please contact us. If your child has a fever / vomiting / diarrhoea we can not take them on camp for 48hrs after the last symptoms. Collecting your child Our day finishes at 4.15 however we recognise that this is a long day for some children. If you need a shorter day, please talk to the camp manager at dropp off. If you’re likely to be delayed after your expected time, please call the camp so our staff can let your child/ren know. You will be given the Camp Manager phone number on the day.
