What we'll do
Love Her Wild is a not-for-profit women’s adventure community. We bring small teams of women together for adventures in wild spaces - always with an emphasis on being a supportive team over reaching any goal. You’ll also find lots of inspiration and support on the Facebook group. The Yorkshire three peaks is a strenuous hike and a good base fitness is required. Training for an event like this is good fun, making sure you get plenty of hills in your legs before hand makes it all the more enjoyable. Try to aim at doing at least two12 mile hikes in training if it’s something you’ve not done before. Then at least two walks of around 16 miles. If you are already pretty fit and do plenty of walking then you may not need to do as much. Squats and lunges are a great way of strengthening the leg muscles too! The hike takes an average so 11-14 hours. It is a circular hike, so starts and finishes in the same place, at the pub in Chapel-le-dale. Philpin farm campsite is a perfect place to stay as there won’t be any travelling to the start, straight out of your tent to walk! (You will need to book your own accommodation, this is not included) There is one public toilet on the hike which is after the first peak. After that it’s ‘wild wees!’ We always have so much fun on these events! We support and encourage each other whilst I keep us safe and heading in the right direction! So many friendships have been made including myself. Even if it’s raining you will be guaranteed a warm welcome and some wonderful memories! So don’t forget your camera! In the event of injury or fatigue, you can bail out after each peak, this requires ringing a taxi to collect you and take you back to the start. This is funded by yourselves if this should happen and can cost up to £25, depending where abouts on the hike you are, so please remember to bring cash with you. I will carry an extensive first at aid kit with me, but you will need to bring certain things with you such as blister plasters and painkillers. Full kit list as follows: 25 litre rucksack 2 litres of water/fluid Packed lunch (more than you would usually eat day to day) Snacks such as chocolate and peanuts or fruit bars Extra fleece jumper Spare socks Hat and gloves Waterproof coat Waterproof trousers Walking boots or trail shoes preferably with ankle support Phone Blister plasters and painkillers Head torch and spare batteries When you have booked an email will be sent out to you with further information, so please make sure your email address is correct.
About your mentor
Jan
Mud, sweat and fun!
My name is Jan Phillips, I am qualified mountain leader, I qualified in 2017 after many years before hiking in North Wales. I used to be a running coach too and had my own running club before the pandemic. I love getting people out in the hills, it is both a great way of keeping fit and blowing away the cobwebs! I grew up on a sheep farm in North Wales and have always loved the great outdoors. My parents were keen hikers too, my first time up Snowdon was at age 8 months in the baby carrier! I also work in the NHS in community dental services specialising in special needs, sedation and urgent care as a dental nurse.
