A summary
They say the quickest way to win someone over is through their stomach, which is why food and drink is at the heart of the All Abroad! Bus holiday clubs! For the first time, the much-enjoyed All Abroad! Bus Summer holiday clubs 2023 will run in Seaford for 4 days during the summer holidays, along the theme of visiting "The Med" - as well as for 4 days in Glynde along the theme of visiting "The Alps" (see https://eequ.org/experience/4051). *NB: WAITING LIST ONLY NOW FOR FREE HAF PLACES *FOR PAID PLACES (£25/DAY OR £80 FOR ALL 4 DAYS), PLEASE CONTACT MENTOR by email at: allabroadbus@gmail.com DATES: Monday 31st July to Thursday 3rd August 2023, TIMES: 9.30am to 2pm each day LOCATION: The fabulous Mercread Youth Centre in Seaford, just by The Crouch FREE places for children eligible for benefits-related free school meals and/or other criteria (eg. young carers, children with EHCP) - get in touch for more details. Each day, kids/young people attending the clubs will - 'travel' to different countries in the Med region of Europe and find out customs and traditions there in summer time; - learn some basic phrases in the relevant language; - prepare, cook and bake various snacks, drinks and lunches inspired by recipes from abroad; - eat and drink the food they've made in café/restaurant settings they set up; - enjoy arts & crafts, music, games, challenges, fun and frolics inside and outside; - get outdoors as much as possible, including to the beach. Activities are best suited to children aged 7-12 years old, but there is plenty of space and scope for slightly older children too Parents and carers will be invited to join us towards the end of each session to see what we've been up and to share some food tips and tastings - simple ideas from abroad to bring new, healthy and economical food and drink into the festive or daily menu at home.

Cook, eat, make, play, travel, languages, fun
All Abroad! Bus is a language and culture project I have set up to 'take people on journeys' to the places, people and cultures of the languages they are learning (or may one day learn), without having to leave their local area! I've loved languages ever since I was at school and doing exchanges with my pen pals, realising already just how widely languages can help you to open doors to other cultures, to other ways of living, doing and thinking. Unfortunately, for children and young people, it's not always easy or possible to travel abroad on a regular basis, if at all, so I have tried to create the closest thing I can to the same kind of experiences. I am a qualified languages teacher (of French. Spanish and German) but I am happiest teaching without the constraints of a classroom or National curriculum, which is why you are more likely to find me running after-school clubs, tutoring online and in-person or running holiday clubs such as these. I have run holiday clubs for HAF since summer 2021 when we travelled to France, Germany, Spain and South America over 4 weeks, through Christmas, New Year and Easter when we celebrated these special times as the locals do in these same regions. It's so lovely to see so many of the same children and young people coming back again and again because they enjoy their time so much at the clubs and they know it is a fun and safe space to spend time. I'm looking forward to this summer's European tour and sampling yet more edible and cultural delights together with the kids!
