A summary
If you did not attend the first bike workshop session you can still join us for the remainder of the course. However, you must attend the second session in order to come along to the led bike rides on week 3 and 4. Are you aged 10 – 14, are you a confident bike rider, do you have a usable bike, then why not book onto our FREE 4 week bike workshop and led bike ride course? Taking place every Thursday from 4 May to 25 May, 4.30pm to 6pm. It's essential you bring your own bike and helmet to all sessions. The 4 week course is completely free and will focus on: Week 1: Bike maintenance During this session you will learn how to perform basic maintenance on you own bike, including mending punctures, keeping the chain clean, adjusting gears and generally finding your way around your bike. All bikes should be roadworthy, but any bikes that are not safe to be on the road can be checked by Karola, our bike mechanic, who will try to fix the problem. Week 2: Bike skills Our Bike Instructors will be on hand to get your bike skills ready for the led bike rides. Week 3 and 4: Led bike rides Put your bike skills into practice with a led bike ride. During the led bike ride you will also explore air quality around Hastings. Routes include: West Hill Community Centre to Hastings Pier, returning to West Hill Community Centre and West Hill Community Centre to Marine Parade, returning to West Hill Community Centre. About your mentors
Active Hastings
Sport and play sessions for everyone!
Active Hastings is a partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have been working in partnership since 2006 to give local residents easy, fun ways to get their everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 a day for children to get fitter, healthier and happier. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots! All of our team are experienced sports coaches and play workers, who are passionate about working with people of all ages in Hastings and St Leonards. We run free or low cost sessions throughout the year, as well as holiday activities as part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme.
