What we'll do
Join us at Ackeee Tree's exciting holiday activities and cooking club where creativity and fun are at the forefront! Our programme is designed to engage children in a variety of activities centred around arts and crafts, baking and cooking. Not only will they get their hands dirty and create wonderful masterpieces, but they will also learn about nutrition, different types of cooking, and the equipment used in the kitchen. In addition to these educational experiences, we understand the importance of exploring the world around us. So, depending on the weather, we may embark on outdoor trips or venture out into the local community, allowing our young chefs and artists to discover and appreciate their surroundings. Come and be a part of our one-of-a-kind holiday club where laughter, learning and adventure await! We welcome children from all over Newham and beyond! Newham Council Statement: "HAF clubs are inclusive for children with low levels of SEN and/or disability, who can participate in universal settings. We also have specialist programmes for those children and young people who require specialist support. Each Club will assess their suitability to provide sufficient support, based on your child/young person’s needs, on a case-by-case basis."
About your mentors
Ackeee Tree Holiday Club
We like to get children cooking from young!
Ackeee Tree Holiday Club started by a volunteer with the Scouting Association and believe that we can cook more often than for just 1 badge. This club was created to give children more opportunities to cook and bake and gain some nutritional knowledge at the same time.
Alesha
Manager
I'm a volunteer in the scouting association for over 10 years and always had a passion for the Chef Badge with the Cubs section. Just watching them collaborate and create a full menu, cook it and serve it (and enjoy it too), brought the passion to then create a club where children do it regularly. I'm a paediatric nurse by trade, a daughter of a teacher, a mum and scout leader. I enjoy seeing the spark in children when they are creative.
