What we'll do
**Please make sure to book all those attending to allow us to comply with fire regulations ** Aslot 1 10-11.30 Steiner play group A wonderful , warm, welcoming community space will be set up with cosy sheepskins, natural wooden toys, vegan snacks and seasonal games, crafts and song circle . Whilst parents /carers can sink into the warm, welcoming supportive space, children are free to play and explore at their own pace . Inspired by over 19 years of special needs and early years Steiner education experience , Anne leads groups which feel like a welcome family . Parents /carers are invited to return on a weekly basis (or drop in when suits!) and allow friendships to form. In addition Anne is a qualified breastfeeding peer supporter, sling/babywearing peer supporter and runs Torbay cloth nappy library so can be on hand to advise about these as well . Seasonal crafts allow us to mark the passing of the year , unique and simple songs can be enjoyed both during the group and sang at home . Slot 2 11.45-12.45 Natural Sensory Exploration Course Each week will feature a different theme and resources to explore related to Touch, Sight, Hearing, Smelling and Taste. On our final week participants will be given a drawstring bag in which to put their hand crafted sensory play invitations. Each week starts with group work exoringcthe senses and our play resources before children get to freely explore the play space whilst grown ups take part in a weekly craft (all items will go towards creating a great treasure set full of sensory play items. As always with Little Squirrels groups everything provided is optional , there is never an obligation to join . If you /your child enjoys listening to the storytelling whilst playing with the blocks then this is fine . If they don't feel like joining the shared snack then they can continue play. The gentle rhythm will continue without them.
About your mentor
Anne Rees
Home Ed mama, Steiner teacher, FS leader
I love being out in nature and always find myself satisfyingly tired at the end of a day in the woods. I'm keen to encourage everyone to enjoy outdoor fun and like showing parents how to facilitate individual and independent exploration giving them confidence to support their children. I enjoy incorporating my Steiner early years teaching background filled with songs, craft and story inspiration.
