What we'll do
Kaleidoscope's annual Christmas Workshops are the highlight of the year! Your child will work alongside our enthusiastic team of theatre professionals exploring Drama, Dance, Singing, Animation and Puppetry. They will also have the chance to make a unique Christmas Gift for someone special. Our team of theatre professionals will spark your child's imagination as we explore classic Christmas stories and festive themes while bringing characters and stories to life with lots of fun, games and laughter. Our teachers inspire and encourage each child to project their voices, learn improvisation skills, enjoy energetic dance routines, sing catchy songs, and develop their social skills and confidence along the way. Kaleidoscope's holiday workshops deliver an absorbing and fun-filled experience for children, but don't take our word for it - read what other parents say. 'We all loved the Summer School – such a feat in a short space of time! It was so well thought out and the children all performed brilliantly, clearly enjoying the experience and working as a team. Both of my children (5 and 11) want to return again next year. Thank you Kaleidoscope!'

Creativity & Confidence
Boost confidence and enhance creativity with Kaleidoscope’s popular Performing Arts Holiday Workshops. Our workshops will enhance your child's skills and boost their confidence allowing them to explore fun activities like Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, Puppetry, Animation and Film Making.  At Kaleidoscope we also place great emphasis on developing social skills - including learning to speak clearly and confidently in front of others and active listening skills. Our team are trained to help children develop their emotional intelligence and wellbeing. Because of all this, Kaleidoscope participants tend to be more confident, more articulate and more at ease in all sorts of social situations in life.  Our Holiday Workshops are the highlight of the year – a lively learning experience!  We’ve received many compliments about our workshops, here’s just one:  “Hi Deirdre, Firstly thank you so much to the whole Kaleidoscope team for being so brilliant this whole time, and delivering such fun and engaging sessions throughout this lockdown/homeschool era. It has been a real highlight for Mia & Jasmine, and having these ‘live’ sessions has definitely given them a boost when so much of the other learning has left them at times quite enthusiastic to put it mildly!!” Parent of Mia and Jasmine. All Workshops are led by our experienced team of theatre professionals who have all enhanced DBS certificates.
What to bring
Here's some detailed information about the Workshops, including what to bring each day: Participants will take part in a range of creative workshops led by specialist facilitators each day, including some of the following: Drama, Dance, Singing, Puppetry, Animation & Making Christmas Gifts for Someone Special. Lunches Please provide a packed lunch for your child and a fruit snack for the afternoon break. Please note: we have children on the Christmas Workshops with severe nut allergies, so we have a strict NO NUT RULE. Here are all the details about the workshops: Kaleidoscope Christmas Workshops 2021 Wallands School Gundreda Road BN7 1PU (There is plenty of parking available at the School). 10am to 3.30pm What the children need to bring/wear: Clothing which is easy to move in e.g. T-shirt and shorts/leggings, and warm layers, like fleeces on top. We do lots of physical work, so skirts are not really suitable as they can inhibit movement. Footwear that your child can run around in e.g. trainers or plimsoles. A named water bottle (we can refill if needed). Coat/hat/scarf/gloves etc for going out in the playground in the lunch break/afternoon break. Tissues If any child has a temperature, or has any Covid symptoms they should not come in to the workshops. Please let us know on 07963 478 393. If any member of your household tests positive with Covid, please DO NOT send your child in to us as they could possibly become infectious and could spread the infection to other children just before they visit elderly relatives at Christmas. (This is different to guidance given to schools, but we think it is a sensible precaution to take just before Christmas). Arrival & Drop Off: Please arrive at the main entrance to Wallands School at 10am and wait outside until we let everyone in. Please don’t arrive much earlier than 10am as we will not be able to let anyone in early. Parents/Carers will say goodbye at the school entrance and will not be able to enter the school due to child protection issues - please let your child know this in advance. Please make every effort to be prompt so that we can start all our activities on time. If you arrive late, the front door may be locked, so please text or call Deirdre on 07963 478 393 and we will come to the main entrance and let your child in. Medication If you have any medication to pass on to us for your child, please send your child in first and then wait until all the other children have gone in before passing on any medication - with clear written instructions attached to it - to Deirdre. Emergency Contact Details We have everyone’s emergency contact details, but if you have a different emergency phone number for any particular day, please text it to me on 07963 478 393 in the morning of your child’s workshop. Collecting Your Child We will bring each class to school main entrance at 3.30pm. Please be prompt to collect your child and wait outside the front entrance. If you are unavoidably delayed for pick up please text us on 07963 478 393 to let us know. If your child is 11+ years old and you are happy for them to walk home on their own without an adult collecting them, please send in a written note with them on the first day. They can pass this on to me. Please ensure everyone who is picking up your child/ren knows what times they need to pick them up. As a performing arts organisation we may take some photos or videos of the children during the workshop to use on our website and or social media. We will never add a child’s name to any social media images. If you would prefer for your child’s photo or videos of their work not to be used just let us know by email: info@kaleidoscopedrama.uk Please do follow/like us on Facebook and Instagram to help us spread the word about our workshops and classes and to see updates about any future events we run. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We really hope your child can join us!
