A summary

Our kids clubs are designed to encourage children to learn and play outdoors in ways that are fun and stimulating. A typical day at Escape to the Woods includes cooking on an open fire, games, free play and a range of woodland activities such as den building, creating shelters, bush crafts, developing green woodworking skills and willow working. This session will include a chance to try your hand at pottery. Evidence shows that real and meaningful experience in natural environments at an early age gives children a better start in life, greater emotional security, better concentration and an ability to empathize with the needs of others. Nikki Wilde·Transforming lives
The Cart Shed charity transforms lives. We work with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties or with those of us who have emotional imbalances in our lives. Based in north Herefordshire, we use enriching and engaging woodland activities such as woodcraft and coppice craft as well as horticulture to empower us to self-manage our mental and physical health in a sustainable way. Sessions are run by tutors, occupational therapists and mental health practitioners to help build confidence, identify barriers to skills development and explore other issues that might be making life challenging. In 2017 the Charity was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
