A summary

They say the quickest way to win someone over is through their stomach, which is why food and drink is at the heart of the All Abroad! Bus holiday clubs - all the more so at Christmas time when we want to make our 'edutainment' offer as special and festive as possible! All Abroad! Bus Christmas holiday clubs 2022 will run Monday 19th to Thursday 22nd December, from 10am until 2.15pm each day. They are aimed primarily at children aged 7-11 years old, but, as with previous holiday clubs, older children (up to 16) are welcome to attend as participants or in a helper role. If your child(ren) is(are) eligible for free HAF tickets, please Book your place here, otherwise please Contact Mentor regarding paid tickets. We will prepare, cook and bake various snacks, drinks and lunches inspired by festive rec...

Julia Vogado / All Abroad! Bus·Cook, eat, make, play, travel, languages, fun
All Abroad! Bus is a language and culture project I have set up to 'take people on journeys' to the places, people and cultures of the languages they are learning (or may one day learn), without having to leave their local area! I've loved languages ever since I was at school and doing exchanges with my pen pals, realising already just how widely languages can help you to open doors to other cultures, to other ways of living, doing and thinking. Unfortunately, for children and young people, it's not always easy or possible to travel abroad on a regular basis, if at all, so I have tried to create the closest thing I can to the same kind of experiences. I am a qualified languages teacher (of French. Spanish and German) but I am happiest teaching without the constraints of a classroom or National curriculum, which is why you are more likely to find me running after-school clubs, tutoring online and in-person or running holiday clubs such as these. I have run holiday clubs for HAF since summer 2021 when we travelled to France, Germany, Spain and South America over 4 weeks, through Christmas & New Year, Easter and again this summer, when we celebrated these special times as the locals do in these same regions. It's so lovely to see so many of the same children and young people coming back again and again because they enjoy their time so much at the clubs and they know it is a fun and safe space to spend time. I'm looking forward to this 'celebrating' and tasting Christmas in many different ways this year.

Getting here

If arriving by train, exit the station up the stairs, turn right over the bridge, follow round the road past the former pub, and the Reading Room is the first building you come to on the RHS. Approx 3 minutes walk to venue. If arriving by car, you can pull in outside the Reading Room to drop off/collect, or alternatively you can park in the village car park and walk back.

Learning aims

Learn how to make festive recipes from abroad, with a focus on using healthy and economical ingredients, developing/improving cookery skills in doing so.
