A summary

We aim to make coding more accessible for learners. We will be using Pi-Top [4] computers to do our coding and building circuits with the Foundation and Extension plates. These are easy to build and code with making them ideal for beginners; however, they can also be used for face and object recognition so more advanced learners can thrive. Students can work together to create festive themed inventions, or just explore some of the possibilities of coding and electronics. We hope that the students will come away from the sessions with a greater understanding of the practical applications of Computer Science. Students will also be able to use some of our Snap Circuits Kits to better their understanding of electricity and electronics. The sessions promise to be very hands-on! The sessions take place in Sir Henry Fermor CoE PS in Crowborough. I look forward to seeing you there!

Dr Darragh Corvan·Teacher and coder
Dr C is passionate about the provision of meaningful Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Having had over 15 years of teaching Physics, I have always tried to give his learners exposure to the most up to date technologies within his lessons. I run both weekend coding camps, as well as holiday coding camps. These give learners experience of building circuits and controlling these by coding in Python. The aim is to move away from block coding, and give learners real exposure to real coding in Python.
