A summary
We are a community forest learning experience offering a range of activities in nature to improve people's wellbeing. We will provide free cooking sessions to help teach people how to cook a cost effective and nutritional meal using low-cost ingredients. We will also teach participants how to make their food go further by reducing waste and using their leftovers to create another delicious meal. Our project will take place in an ancient woodland setting, where people can improve their well being by connecting with nature. Sunita. your mentor, wants to share her Indian heritage to help people enjoy and reconnect with nature whilst learning a new skill.
About your mentor
Out to the Woods CIC
Learn a skill for life!
Experienced primary school teacher and Forest School leader. I have been cooking Indian food for as long as I can remember and I want to use what I know to help people to learn the same skills. Once you've learnt the basics, you will be able to make a variety of curries and lentils and onmce you've learnt how to make simple chappatis (Indian bread) you will have the skills to make a simple Indian meal or snack.
Conditions
Please note that these sessions will only be offered to those who have booked through local community agencies. Some sessions are open to the public and the block is marked "Community Cooking - Open to public. These sessions are being funded by the National lottery community fund to support people who are struggling with the cost of living crisis. Everyone is welcome but if you feel you are able to make a fonteyn this will go towards funding further sessions once our grant has finished.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To learn how to cook lentils and chapatis
