Julia Vogado / All Abroad! Bus·Cook, eat, make, play, travel, languages, fun
All Abroad! Bus is a languages and culture project I have set up to 'take people on journeys' to the places, people and cultures of the languages they are learning (or may one day learn), without having to leave their local area! I've loved languages ever since I was at school and doing exchanges with my pen pals, realising already just how widely languages can help you to open doors to other cultures, to other ways of living, doing, thinking and eating! Unfortunately, for children and young people, it's not always easy or possible to travel abroad on a regular basis, if at all, so I have tried to create the closest thing I can to the same kind of experiences. I am a qualified languages teacher (of French. Spanish and German) but I am happiest teaching without the constraints of a traditional classroom, which is why you are more likely to find me running after-school clubs and holiday clubs like this! I've run holiday clubs for HAF since summer 2021 when we 'travelled' to France, Germany, Spain and South America over 4 weeks, followed by more clubs at Christmas /New Year and Easter when we enjoyed these big celebrations as they enjoy them abroad. It's been lovely to see lots of the same children and young people coming back each time, not only because they enjoy the activities we do (especially the cooking and eating!) but also because they know it's a fun and safe space to spend time in. I'm looking forward to this summer's European tour and sampling yet more edible and cultural delights together with those who come along, both old faces and new ones!

Getting here

If arriving by train, exit the station up the stairs, turn right over the bridge, follow round the road past the former pub, and the Reading Room is the first building you come to on the RHS. Approx 3 minutes walk to venue. If arriving by car, you can pull in outside the Reading Room to drop off/collect, or alternatively you can park in the village car park and walk back.
