A summary
You're going to feel SO proud of yourself by the end of this day...go from never touching a sewing machine to making a snazzy drawstring glasses case or mobile phone case AND an amazing pair of PJ bottoms! - in one day! A fast-track way to learn to sew or to refresh the basics if you've not sewn for years. You'll learn to use a sewing machine, then sew a mobile phone case OR soft glasses case and then a pair of pyjama pants to practise and get confident in your new skills. Sewing techniques learnt on this course are excellent preparation for sewing more advanced clothes in future projects. Sewing machines provided or bring your own What You'll Need - Glasses or phone case fabric: A length of non-stretch medium weight fabric (e.g. printed cotton) 0.5m length @ 44" or wider. - Fabric for PJ pants - a non-stretch light to medium weight fabric e.g. printed cotton: If your hips (horizontally round the widest part of your bottom) measure 90cm or less, bring a 1.6m length of fabric that's at least 56"/142cm wide. If the fabric is narrower than that bring a 2.8m length. All other sizes bring: a 3 metre length of fabric that's at least 39.5"/100cm wide - Elastic for PJ waist: a 1 metre length of elastic which is 2cm wide - black elastic for dark colours and white for light colours or a print with a light colour in it. - Two 100m reels of polyester sewing thread: one each matching case and PJ fabrics or just one 100m reel if the fabric will be the same for both items. - If you wear glasses for close up work please bring them. - Wear/bring leggings and t-shirt or vest so you can measure your waist, hips and inside leg. - Your mobile phone if you have one, in case of emergency. We provide if you don’t have your own: sewing machine (or bring your own - with all accessories, spare bobbins and pedal - if you prefer), scissors, pins, chalk, tape measure, unpicker etc. Full details, amounts and instructions will be given on your booking confirmation and we can advise further by phone or email if you need help.

The very nature of sewing means you need space and each person will have their own table (measuring at least 1m by 60cm). Currently we book a maximum of 9 students per class, with many classes having just 5 students maximum. Please do not hesitate to contact us here if you would like more info about any aspect of a class or workshop you are wanting to book/booked onto Face coverings: Face coverings are now optional. If you would prefer a face covering to be worn by your teacher when they are close to you please let them know at the start of the class (teachers will bring one with them) Movement: To reduce the amount of movement around the class, students should ask the teacher to bring them items needed where possible Sanitising hands: Hand sanitiser will remain available on all tables and at the door on entry - please continue to use it Tools: Students are welcome to to bring their own scissors, pins, tape measure, chalk, unpicker, grader ruler etc if they have them and would feel more comfortable using their own equipment.
