A summarySummer Woodland camp for Free to Learn Participants:
A night under the stars in our magnificent ancient woodland site
Drop off - 2pm Sunday 14th July
Parents site visit 2pm 15th July - End 3.30ish . Parents are welcome to come down to the woods for the final part of the day if you would like to.
The £50 cost includes the Sunday session and night, including all food. (The cost of Monday 17th is included in the full term cost)
Food: We will supply Dinner and snacks on Sunday evening and breakfast and lunch on Monday. Children are welcome to bring extra snacks and drinks if they would like to. All food will be suitable for vegetarians / vegans. Please let us know about any other dietary needs.
Sleeping: The children will have the option to sleep in a natural shelter they have constructed, a tarp, a hammock (or both). We will also be putting up large shelters big enough for everyone if they are needed. They can also sleep in a tent if they prefer. If you have a small tent they can bring that is helpful, we do have a couple of spares if needed.
We will be working with the group to think about how they would prefer to sleep and preparing for this.
We are aware that sleeping in the woods at night can be a daunting prospect so we are working with the group to make sure they are ready emotionally as well on a practical level.
Staff will be available throughout the night. All children will be camping close to the main camp area.
Toilets: We will have 2 toilets available where they are camping and hand washing facilities
What they will need:
Sleeping bag
Sleeping matt (we have some spares)
Pillow (optional)
Torch (we have some spares if needed)
Warm clothing for the night
Any personal toiletries, toothbrush etc..
Any medications (please inform staff if these are needed)
Bowl, spoon/fork, cup, (we will have spares)
Full water bottle
A change of clothing
Children will need to carry most of their kit so we would recommend not bringing too much, we will supply everything else they need. As long as they have what they need to be warm and comfortable.
All of this is totally optional and we have stressed this to the children. Sleeping in the woods in a community can be a truly wonderful experience, but if they do not feel ready it is absolutely fine.
Cost: We do not want to make any profit for this but will just need to cover the staff and food costs, so the cost will be £50. We never want cost to be a barrier so please contact me if the cost is an issue.
I am available to talk on the phone about any concerns you have or answer any questions
