A summary
Join us at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds for a packed lunch/tea and a wonderful opportunity to watch our new production of Sword in the Stone. All HAF Eligible children receive a free packed lunch/tea to enjoy before the show begins. The show is 90 minutes long with a 20 minute break and is suitable for all ages. You'll receive your tickets by email or you can collect them before the show from our Box Office. This show is performed by our Summer School Youth Theatre. Our cast of young people work on the new adaption for two weeks before performing on the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmund’s historic stage. The young people have the opportunity to receive professional training in all aspects of theatre alongside building real-world skills such as problem-solving, communication and teamwork. The vibrant 200-year-old regency theatre is the last of its kind and one of only eight Grade I listed buildings in the country, and it's right on your doorstep. As a proud producing theatre, we create four fantastic in-house productions each year, alongside loads of other travelling shows, comedians, music, and family activities. Theatre Royal is at the heart of Bury St Edmunds, offering fun drama workshops and community activities for people of all ages.

About the show
With a darkness engulfing the world, and their magic starting to fail, Merlin must hurry to find a pure heart to lift the sword from the stone and set things right. When they meet down-on-their-luck teenager, Art, things start to slot into place but the pair have got a long way to go, and very little time to spare… This new version inspired by the Le Morte D’Arthur legend catapults us into the modern day. This is a production set to be full of magic and mayhem, as Merlin and Art work together to save the day from the monstrous Nimue and her forces of evil.
