A summary

Make Change – Winter HAF Programme Overview Make Change is proud to offer an inclusive and engaging Winter HAF Programme designed to support children and families during the festive holiday period. Our programme provides a safe, friendly, and active environment where children can enjoy positive experiences, make new friends, and stay healthy over the school break. The programme is free for children eligible for benefits-related free school meals, with places also available for additional families where possible. Our Winter HAF days run from 10:00am to 14:00pm, offering a balance of structured activities, active play, creative time, and a nutritious meal each day. Children are grouped in age-appropriate sessions to ensure they feel comfortable, included, and supported throughout. The sports and activity sessions are a core part of the Make Change approach. Led by experienced and enthusiastic coaches, children take part in a wide range of inclusive sports such as wheelchair basketball, football, parachute games, archery, boccia, multi-skills, and team games. Activities are carefully adapted so every child can get involved, regardless of experience or ability. Our focus is on fun, confidence-building participation, not competition, helping children feel proud of what they achieve. Each day includes a healthy meal provided to every child. We place importance on creating a positive food environment where children feel encouraged to try new things, understand what makes a nutritious meal, and enjoy eating together in a relaxed setting. Mealtimes also help build social skills, independence, and healthy routines. Alongside physical activity, children enjoy creative and festive-themed sessions, such as arts and crafts, group challenges, music, mindfulness and relaxation activities. These quieter, reflective sessions ensure children have time to express themselves, wind down, and enjoy the festive spirit. Our staff team is experienced in working with children of all needs and backgrounds, including those who may require additional support. We prioritise kindness, patience, encouragement, and clear communication. Creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere is at the heart of what we do. The Make Change Winter HAF programme gives children the chance to stay active, learn new skills, develop confidence, and feel connected during the winter holidays. We are passionate about helping every child feel seen, supported, and inspired. We look forward to welcoming your child to a fun, festive, and enriching winter holiday experience with Make Change.
